So I get a call yesterday from my buddy at ESP who is the Vice President in charge of North America. He says he has something really cool for me and he was going to text me over some pics.

Evidentially in 2010 they made two neck through body all white ESP KH2 Kirk Hammett guitars in the Tokyo custom shop for Kirk.

These two custom guitars were similar to the Custom Shop Ouija guitar like this:

but with the skull and cross bone inlays and snow white with white EMGs.

They both shipped to ESP HQ in Hollywood and one went straight away to Kirk at Metallica HQ and the other for some reason stayed in the offices of the ESP HQ in Hollywood. :D

I secured it from ESP and it is en route to my shop. Kirk has one and somehow I ended up with the only other one.

Here are the grainy iPhone pics, better pics when it gets to the shop next week. Pretty cool and rare being 1 of 2 all white KH2 custom shop guitars made for Kirk himself and the other one in the hands of the artist.

I know there is a auto wah joke in here somewhere...

Wow , I used to love black and red guitars but this ... Pretty and sylph! And so rare !

Unfortunately , I can't see a auto-wah ...

Looks cool, made in the T custom shop, takada/tokyo shop.

Nice guitar.

Honestly I'm just really pleased to see the name "KIrk Hammett" back in rotation here.

Congrats, sweet axe!!

Now you need one of these along with it

I thought T was for Terada, where the Gretsches are also made....

From The ESP Board:

Kiso shop and Tokyo shop, both in Japan, as mentioned above, about 150miles apart. Most of the Signature Series custom shop stuff and Original Series stuff tends to be Kiso Shop built from what i've seen, many high end custom orders and artist order guitars are from the Tokyo Shop. Kiso Shop does still handle a load of individual custom orders though.

There is also the Craft House (CH serial, domestic japanese orders) Sado Shop (SO serial, this is mostly for bolt on guitars!) and Technical House (TH serial, domestic japanese orders, insane shizz)

Key point is that rather than compromise on the hand built ethic, and have giant facilities with CNC machines and medicore staff, ESP have multiple work shops and custom shop facilities around Japan, enabling them to spread the high volume of orders across multiple shops, without having to compromise their traditional 'luthier built' custom instruments.

IE, hire/train more luthiers, built more workshops. Rather than compromise and modernize to machinery and automated processes.

Your rare custom shop has a paint blister.........................

Based on the serial number, the guitar was made in 2010.

It's still a cool guitar, though.

Very nice! I think I like the Ouija one even better though... :D

Agreed. I'm not a "graphics" guitar kinda guy, but I'd get a Ouija ESP before throwing down on this one. Just sayin'...

Thanks You are correct I called ESP and they told me this.

T - Tokyo Custom Shop
10 is the year it was made
16 is the 16th week of that year
5 is the day it was made 5th day of the week
01 means it was the 1st guitar built that day

Whats that on the back of the guitar on the top wing?
Looks like a paint bubble...or is it a piece of foam?
