I hear more clarity and highs with the grille cloth removed. Cool vid, thanks Spiderwars! The grille cloth definitely muffles the highs.

Maybe this had more to do with the high end definition moreso than the JBLD120F's.

I swear I hear a fuller and clearer bottom with no cloth. The top end sounds similar to me. That's what surprised me. My ears are shit tho.

Funny Johan says he hears no difference but I disagree and even though my ears are kinda shot as well. I have some Tinnitus but I was as surpirsed as you were when the first clip with the grille installed played.

The grille cloth definitely seems to muffle/dampen the tone at least to these tortured ear drums.

Yep, definitely a difference. My 79 G12-65 cab is pretty road worn, and has a nice tear in the upper L portion of the front grill and when I stand directly in front of it the clarity of that speaker really jumps out.

Umm, Eddie also removed the tolex on those cabinets as well.

There is a difference. I had a JCM800 slant that I use for gigs and it had black, basketweave and check cloth on it. Yep, three layers of grill cloth. It sounded great with the 75 speakers. It was a bitch getting the front baffle to sit in the proper cavity...but I got it done. ?

You can hear the difference in cloth.

While there’s a slight difference, the same tone is there. I’ve heard bigger tonal differences in changing a pick
