Which are brighter? Which are louder? Opinions? Anyone side-by-sided these?

The quad of Chinese reissues I have right next to a quad of old blue frame scumback M75 25 watt are both louder and brighter.

I would generally describe the scumbacks as a darker slightly less loud version of a reissue greenback.
For the last 2 years I have been digging the scumbacks with my marshall style amps and then recently got a new cab and loaded it with 4 very, very well broken in used reissue greenbacks I have had sitting around unused in boxes and have to say as good as I thought the scums were the reissues are brighter and just sound better to me at low and loud volumes.

Even swapped speakers back in forth in the cabs as they are different brands (splawn straight and Mojave straight) and get the same results. Scumbacks are quite a bit more dark, or at least the older ones.

Great. Thanks. Exactly what I was hoping to hear. I really like my M75's, but wish they were a little louder/brighter. They're in a Bogner cab which I know are darker. Even with the batting removed. May move them somewhere else & replace with reissues.

Definitely go for the Chinese greenbacks... much better sounding speakers!

Interesting timing on this thread.. i was just comparing my weber legacies (which for all intensive purposes are/were essentially the M75) with my RI greenbacks and i would say the Greenbacks def have more top end and crunch. I have been going back and forth and on it's own, ya can't beat the greenback. However, the darker voicing of the M75 and it's wattage handling for me made it better for recording a 50 watt amp. I can better contain the sound of a single speaker vs. 4. Furthermore, you can get an sm57 right on the cone and get some great tones where doing that to a RI is going to get you one hell of a bright tone. So greenback overall in a 4 x 12 but i am digging a weber / sm57 with a eminence super V / cascade fatheadII combo right now. Full crunch.
