I got a couple of Chinese Suhrs, Theyre called Rasmus!

My guess is it was made by a place called Rare Electric Guitars. They make 100% rip offs of just about every high end brand and sell for about $500.00. They use Wilkinson bridges so I bet this was made by them.

The logo and headstock are dead giveaways. Plus the top is shit.

Some of these would beat the real deal in recorded clips, just like some Epiphones have been chosen over R9 Gibson clips recorded by the same player with same amp.

I would love to try a couple of the best Chinese Suhr knockoffs against the real $4,000 ones just for shits & giggles.

For $400 you can't go wrong, imo.

I've always wanted a Goldtop, but Gibson prices & quality control are ridiculous. For $340, I think I'll take the plunge for kicks.

Why would anyone even want to support such a company that participates in illegal copyright infringement? I wouldn't give these assholes a dime!

I agree with you. However, I also disagree with paying Gibson $4000+ for a Les Paul with poor binding issues, fret problems, orange peel paint job etc. Gibson needs to get their quality control dept into shape or charge a lot less for the glory of having a Gibson decal on your headstock.

I'll second the motion. I'll also add that no way in hell is a $400.00 rip off of a Suhr going to sound sound, play, or feel like the real thing. I've alo played Chibsons and they suck. Period. They can never be compared to a real Gibson in any department. And I'd love to see a $4k Gibson with poor binding, bad frets, and orange peel paint.

No knock off will ever be as good as a Suhr. Certain companies produce instruments at such a high level that a clone can never come close. However, Gibson isn't one of them.

As for seeing a $4k Gibson with poor binding, bad frets, and orange peel paint. I saw 2 last week. The binding was sticking out past the fretboard so much that you could feel it every time you played. The fret job was so bad that you needed to refret it unless you liked a fretless feel etc. It wasn't 4K though. It was almost 5K.

Gibson wasn't always like this. They used to produce some amazing high quality instruments. However, their quality control dept isn't what they used to be.

If after playing one I found that I couldn't really tell much difference that mattered to me between say a real Les Paul & a Chinese knockoff except for maybe pickups, I would buy the knockoff no problem.

It would also have to look spot on to what the real deal looks like including headstock shape, decal etc....

Is a much better quality Gil Yaron Les Paul for $10,000 any less of a douchebag buy just because it's not a cheap Chinese knock off.........the Yaron is a total Gibson Les Paul copyright infringement knock off as well.....he just writes GilYaron on the headstock in the Gibson font........what's the difference in morals here? Gibson is still being totally infringed upon.....

There is no difference other than the Yaron buys you forum cred.

Never under estimate how much MORE someone will pay for the honor of a well known / popular decal on a headstock.

Does anyone actually think a Gibson Les Paul is worth the money they ask for it & would you pay that much if it had no Gibson decal?

As a musician, you should be buying an instrument based on quality, tone, looks etc & not how cool you'll look to your friends if you own a certain brand.
