43 years and nobody has topped that tone yet.
  that's funny :D

No kidding. There isn't one player here at an intermediate level who can't play most any Clapton solo.

Loved that video. But ya the wah part was pretty awesome.

"Let me just turn this off" *SLAM* :hys:

So what. He can write 50 great songs before you can even come up with a riff that's just barely above suck level.

He can, brother? I don't think he has 50 great songs.

Sure, I like the one about his dead son, but that's a pretty rough way to come up with inspiration.

Go check out his stuff with Cream - Crossroads live is pretty awesome.

I may know the notes he plays, but I sure can't play them with the feel that Clapton has (had); very few people can.

I don't hate the Cream stuff. Crossroads is highly overrated.

As for feel, you can easily emulate his facial expressions, which will subtly change your tone.

He is a great musician overall

1-excellent songwriter

2-great singer

3-good guitar player with great phrasing

Not the best technical player on the instrument, so what. Would you trade chops for songwriting skills. I would. His phrasing is impeccable and has saved him from the fact that he is not the fastest or most technically proficient. I'm pretty sure he would say the same of himself. I'm also pretty sure he doesn't give a shit.

Many of you are aware that I was signed up with Infiniteguitar for online lessons.

I made the switch today to JamPlay and I have learned the location of every E on the guitar.*

Not bad for the first day...

*technically, notes that are pitched to Eb as I always tune down half a step, you know, on account of how all the cool kids are doing it

Do you actually think Clapton can read music? If so, where did he learn how to? In heroin school? Or was it Junkie University?
