I recently traded my uber to gsxrbusa for his Peters Chimera/FSM amp head. I'm totally stoked to get the amp, but in the band I play in we do use a bit of cleans for a few songs. I am looking at adding a second amp head that does cleans very well, and figured id use one of the radial headbone switchers to go back and fourth. with all that said, and without breaking the bank, what are some amp heads out there that have great cleans ?

Wait for the Synergy stuff to come out...you can run an A/B box and use the Synergy preamp into your Peter's poweramp and get whatever module works for your clean tone...Vox, Fender, Hiwatt, whatever.

How clean and how loud? If you want sparkly clean and play loud that could be a different amp then if you want some compression and don't play loud. Can you give some examples of the clean you're looking for?

How about a good old NMV Marshall? I always liked the cleans on those, before hitting the boost pedals lol...

I like a darker voiced clean tone, but it needs to be clean with no break up. I run a slight amount chorus for added depth. the volume i am using will be gig level volume.

For no breakup at gig volume, and accounting for big, open stages I think you need at least 50W and I'd prob just go 100W for max headroom. But I'm at a loss for suggestions because I like sparkly clean (like EJ's clean tone). I like BF Fenders and Vox AC30 cleans (but not too loud on the Vox as it breaks early).

JTM
Fender too many to list
Suhr Bella
Mesa Lonestar
Mesa Express

Carvin Legacy 3
Bugera 55
Laney Lionheart
Fender Twin

fuchs clean machine. they make a 150 watt version if you want loud.

Roland JC 120 for cleans. If you want non breakup I have yet to find a better amp for the money. They come in head form (rare).

For something small and light that you could put behind your rig for great cleans I'd pick up a Fender Blues JR and put some nice tubes in it.
Better than a head. No cab needed.
Craigslist $300. Done.

AC15! The newer ones also have the top boost channel. Nice cleans to crunch to dirty old Brit rock. Takes pedals well on the normal input. I am going to pick up an AC10 at some point and put it through my 4x12. Boom!

Wrong Forum.

haha, yeah I was nervous as I typed out the original post. this is definitely not the place to be discussing clean tones

Maybe an old Musicman? They were def loud and clean.
