Ok, I always thought you needed to double track (2 takes, 1 left and 1 right) to get that nice stereo spread on rhythm tracks.

I tested playing through 1 amp VS playing through 2 amps at the same time.

I'm shocked that playing through 2 amps at the same time (1 take, panning 1 amp left and 1 amp right) actually gives that nice stereo spread you get from double tracking and panning 2 separate takes.

Did this test to see if it actually sounds bigger live playing through 2 amps at once vs 1.

Not sure if everyone already knew this but my mind was blown

Yep

Especially if the amps are varied enough and/or eq'd differently (as to not sound the same). Like say...a Splawn Quick Rod with a Mesa Recto :D One amp being wet with effects and one dry is a nice touch too.

I'd like to hear your 2 amp take without the drums and keys. Just the amps.

Thanks a lot fellas, much appreciated.

^ agree the right side seems a little louder now that I listen back.
