So I am NOT a typical 7 string player i don't think. I definitely do not dent anyway...

Had this riff floating around since I got the guitar. Used the EZD Made of Metal Kit. 2 Rhythm Tracks using the Recto Boosted and 3 Harmony Tracks using the Engl Fireball. Bass is also Helix. All stock cabs. No IR's. I am one of the few who thinks the Helix cabs work just fine. I recorded this all at like 1am through headphones so mix isn't amazing by any stretch.

Drums are just a single stereo track with some bus compression and verb.

Oh shit Jeremy that Sounds very good!

How much tweaking into the tones? Or plug & play?

Dude it was seriously plug and play. I have had the LT for a while now but honestly, I never even had to crack the manual to get good sounds. I got the Helix Floor yesterday so went and downloaded Native. IT. IS. AWESOME!

It took me all of 3 minutes to get the Recto, Engl and SVT dialed in good enough for tracking. It is that fast on the Helix hardware as well for basic main amp sounds. There is also NO post on these guitars. The cool thing with Native is it is recording a DI track and you can change everything around at will. I did it in real time while th song was playing back and had no drop out in sound or anything.

I still can't believe how much i am enjoying the Helix tones after all the crap I talked a year or so ago! LOL!

Geezus dood that sounded really good. And I totally feel ya on the recording and headphone mixing at 1am and posting right away hehe ;) So do you feel pretty dialed in with the Helix as far as metal tones? Or do you think there is a lot more tweaking to do before you are happy with it?

Thabks brother! Yeah I am hooked dude. I am releasing a series of vids called “An idiots guide to Helix” amnd am approaching it from the viewpoint of people that are new to modelers and showing how easy it is to operate on the unit itself. Little to no “computer based editing” for the vids. I also do NOT use 3rd party IR’s like many claim is “necessary” to get good sounds.

I’ll say, if YOU think it sounds good, I’ll take it as a compliment!

Felt good to write some metal too! Been doing nothing but church or punk!

That sounds great!

I've been a devout Line 6 hater for years now after being burned by their stuff many times. I have to say though, your demo sounds fantastic and other demos I've heard of the various Helix items do as well.

Is there anyway you can upload the isolated guitar tracks? I'd love to hear the Helix raw.

Can't wait for the videos. Maybe that will be the deciding factor to get me to purchase a Helix.

Yeah man I can do that. I was the same way by the way. I vowed they’d never get another dime if my money a few years ago when I was a Kemper user. I guess that did NOT work out! Lol!

Right on! I’ll definitely post them here when done.

Geez man, I always say tube amps recorded with real mics ultimately win and shit on everything but in the past two years this gap is closing very fast...especially for the heavy stuff. This sounded really really good. The fact you did this without having to blow the roof off your house with a cab is very impressive. Can we hear some soldano and Marshall jcm800 sounds out of this thing?

Yeah man, we are at the point where we can no longer discount digital. I still can’t believe this is Line 6 stuff to boot! I will certainly make some clips of the amps you listed.

Let be clear... I will ALWAYS go to amps for my personal playing enjoyment first, but Helix, AX8/FX and all those are pretty on point.

I still stand by what I say though, with Helix I literally lost all GAS for another Kemper or Axe. Plus they are doing some really good updates and more amps and effects coming in the next update as well as new editor updates.

I am even tempted just to pick this up for all the pedal effects. Wonder how this will sound in line with a mic'd tube amp? I am guessing all the delays and verbs will work fine as an effect on a mic'd track.

Thanks man! Going to see if i can match some of my isolated Slax tracks...

:D

Yeah I am going to try that this weekend hopefully. I am way more comfortable dialing in effects on Helix than I am the delays and all in Logic so interested to hear it on say, the Dirty Shirley/Two Notes tracks. I figured OD/Flanger/Phaser could go n the main track and then bus that to an AUX with delays and verbs.

I liked your demo enough that I nabbed the trial version of Helix Native. Got 15 days to give it a workout and so far just running various DI files I made and have nabbed from across the net, I'm VERY impressed. I like it a hell of a lot more than I did BIAS or Amplitube 4.

I'm hoping to see how it works with Wall Of Sound this weekend.

Wow man that’s awesome! Interested to hear what you come up with. I feel like I am borderline shilling BUT L6 is definitely come leaps and bounds with their amp sounds.

Sounds good brotha, even though I’m not a fan of the Nazgul 7 pickup.

Thanks man!

I've heard a lot of people sub it for the Pegasus. So far I am digging it but. It sure what another good modern 7 bridge pickup would be worth looking at.

Wickedly good Jer! Nicely done! Love my Helix Rack and i have just started using Native as well and am very much enjoying it. The nice thing about playing live with my amp is that if something goes wrong, I can simply plug the Helix in FOH and won’t have an issue getting great FOH tone. Super happy with it!
