Hello all! I've been a reader of this forum for a while, and this is my first post. I love this forum because im a self confessed gear nut, like so many here! About my self; I'm from Norway, in my early forties and playing in the hard rock band "Kissing Miss Lizzy". We started as a coverband three years ago, playing seventies, eightys and nineties hard rock. We've now moved on, playing our own music wich i think is so much more fun. No more arguing about what songs to play! At this time we have built our own studio and are soon starting to record our first "album".

So, to my question. Does it exist any systems that combine in ear monitoring with wireless guitar? If no, would it be a good idea? If yes, what products exist?

Velkommen!

To my knowledge it doesn't exist.

I used to play with Wireless in-ear and guitar transmitter and it worked just fine. Although I can totally see where you are coming from, in my case (and I can only speak from my own needs needs and experiences) it wouldn't have made much sense to combine them.

I had my monitoring transmitter set up by the FOH or a mixing desk, where I used one channel for an aux bus mix of the whole band, and another to receive my guitar via a line out from the desk. That way it was easy to raise or lower the levels of either during the performance.
I then had a guitar receiver set up by my pedal board, and after that either mic'ed or line out to the main desk.
Again, in my case it would have meant some pretty long cable runs, since I would have to place the all-in-one box somewhere in between all the sources.
Still.. Good thinking.

(FYI: Many guitarists are not too keen on in-ear, my self included. I only use it if standard monitoring isn't optimal)

WELCOME ABOARD!!!!! :rawk:

I think it's possible, but it seems like it would be something that - if and when it screwed up - it would screw up horribly :aww:

Ok, thanks I'll check out that unit. In any way, I see the problem if the unit goes down, you loose everything:-(

Thanks for the welcome!

I would mic up the gutar amp straight into a wireless IEM transmitter. Either try to split the FOH mic or just run a separate mic. Or set up a Wireless IEM transmitter next to the FOH desk and get a send from the guitar channel.

You can do it with Zaxcom wireless units...they can send and recieve 2 channels at a time..

Are you sure? It would be cool, but I couldn't find the unit that does that. The transmitters will receive timecode and remote control signals, but I couldn't find audio going both ways. I use to wear 2 separate backs for doing what the OP was asking, I didn't dig it. So if these do send and recieve it would be very cool.

You can make them stereo very easily. They are pricey though, I use them at work.
If you want a cheaper alternative check out the Lectrosonics SRA systems..

This?

The timecode / audio output connector can be used as either an audio monitor for playback of audio / confidence monitoring or as a timecode output to jam other devices. The function is software selectable.
