Hey guys i have owned a evh 5150 III for a couple years now and i love ch2. I mostly play at home and not very loud. I have been looking at the suhr badger 30 because i think i would be more comfortable using it because its lighter to carry around, it has power scaling, and its just one channel which is really where im more comfortable playing. I also think it could be a great playform to explore new pedals. Am i going to be dispointed in the sound of the badger vs evh 5150 III ch2? I am leaning toward the badger 30 because it sounds a little more old school than hifi. Also for those who have the amp how does the 1x12 sound?

It does sound and feel a bit more old school than the 5153 and took pedals like a champ. When turned up it's a nice sounding amp but I just don't care for power scaling master thing. I personally think the 5153 sounds better at lower volumes than the Badger does. YMMV

Thanks... I would love to hear from those who have owned both.

I have owned both and still own the 5153 50 watt.

Thank you. What did you not like about the power scaling?

Didn't like what it did to the tone. It wasn't an outrageous change. It got a little hollow in the mids and I just hated having turn those two knobs to try and get back what it was missing. Some people seem to love it but it wasn't for me.

i think i may just be crazing

Understand. It's happened to me a lot. :D Dont get me wrong the Badger 30 is a very nice amp but not sure you are gaining a whole lot over what you have already.

i had both, still have my badger 30, i think it's one of the most FUN and great tone amp around!
i loved the 5153, but no contest between them - tone wise (for my taste)

just to be clear - i have several amps, channel switching includes. so...
