Contemplating having my JSX modded

When I first got my JSX a couple of years ago (for whatever reason) my ears didn't mind the mid voicing of the amp. But, over time as many have stated...i agree, it has a cocked wah kind of sound. I run 6L6's in mine and it tamed it a little. Anyway, I have been thinking of selling the amp for a long time but then the idea of having a mod done popped into my brain. I know FJA and Voodoo have some mods.
I guess i'm looking for something that tames the mids and makes the amp less compressed also. I have heard the jsx is a good platform for mods (can't remember where I read that). I have very limited knowledge of electronics so I'm just relaying what I read somewhere.
Are there some mods that give it a real pissed off marshall type sound? My avatar will give you an idea of the era and genre of tone I hear in my head. Or should I just sell it? I have a little Blackstar HT-5 that kicks butt and play it mostly now. But i'm a rigtalk member and have gas ya know...so jsx mods ? yes, no? and if so what kind of mod?
thanks

I don't know man, I find changing different elements of your rig and equipment yields just as big of results with this amp. I never really heard the "cocked wah" thing, but I do think the amp has some weird ass sounding mids. Especially on the ultra channel.
I get around it by keeping them low (4/10) then getting more "proper" sounding mids from a quad of V30's. I also don't like how the amp sounds with overly obnoxious pickups. Both in the area of output and eq. A nice medium output pickup with a relatively flat eq goes a long way with the JSX's preamp voicing.

i would recommend trying another JSX or different speakers. i have played JSX's that sound worlds apart from one another. some i hated, others i did not. just two different animals - and this is ignoring speaker characteristics.

ive owned a JSX multiple times and i've sold them off. I like the way they're voiced and like the amount of saturation they have but always seemed to be kinda sterile to me. I've since switched to mesa marks and they have that little extra that i found missing with the jsx but they lack the saturation.

I think I'm going to try and sell this amp. Thanks for the replies.

The cocked wah thing is totally true. There is a high pass filter that is part of the FAT switch circuit that cuts most of the bass below 1.3K when the switch is off and around 600HZ when the switch is set to FAT. And the compression can be changed as well and opened up a bit.

But Joe is know for the cocked wah tone. Funny thing. I have seen Joe play the JSX several times in concert, and the amps never left the clean channel. He used his DS-1 into the clean channel. No surprise he switched to Marshall. BTW saw him at Christmas time and his tone was the best I have heard in a long time, full and open (he was using Marshall's)

Not just Joe. James has always had that tone in his designs..rockmaster, ultra, prowler etc!

I always loved my JSX but it was VERY picky to the entire signal chain. I loved it with my Gflex cabs but really didn't like it with any other cab I tried and that was a lot of them. But since I got my Blackstar HT 100 I sold the JSX and haven't looked back at all. Can do everything the JSX did but better (imho) and definitely has more growl and character coming out of it as well.

I sold my JSX a few months ago but just before I sold it, I found a tone in the amp by using a pedal that made me want to keep it. I put a Suhr Riot in the chain on the orange channel and turned the pedal's level up and the gain down. It added more gain, low end, etc. and just added a certain muscle to the sound. I barely had the gain up at all and was using it almost like a boost pedal setting. Sounded kickass!
