Control jack on MiniMix II

When I put a generic TR cable into the CONTROL jack of my MMII, it shuts off all sound. Having read the manual this means my cable is wired tip+ ring to shield (it's a run of the mill crappy guitar cable).


tip to shield -> kills the fx return
ring to shield -> kills the dry signal

I searched Google but I can't find any diagrams or help that I can understand showing how to re-solder my cable to utilize the other two options above.

Should I try a (stereo) TRS cable?

Does anybody sell cables like above?

Yup, you definitely need a stereo cable You can't get all those three options without one, because mono cables lack the "ring" component.

The below picture should clarify things a little. It shows two mono cables behind a stereo cable.
