Cool Pedalboard Ideas...

I'm gonna be making a custom one here in the next few weeks so I can finally put the finishing touches on my current rig. I really like the look of the one I have attached below (not the color though)...I like the raised sides. I may try to do something along the lines of that.

I won't be using an effects loop which makes things a lot simpler. My goal is to have a safe way to transport my pedals, have minimal setup time, and I want it to be SUPER neat.

So, a few questions:

1. I wanna put the jacks in on the side like the ones Friedman does...can someone explain to me how to do this?

2. I would like to stay away from velcro, what are some alternatives?

3. Finally, does anyone just have any sweet/creative/silly pedalboard ideas they would like to share?

Thanks!
Jordan

Looks great!
Intersting idea about framing the pedals with little pieces of wood...I like it.

The Trailer Trash boards he uses come predrilled. Not sure of the hole size but I'm sure you can find out from Rooster at Trailer Trash or ask Dave on his forum. He gave me some great advice thru the forum. Then mount the jacks either via screws or nut/washer depending on type of jack you choose. Then the cables get hard wired into the jacks.

I used 3M Dual Lock, which if you're unfamiliar with it, is like super industrial strength Velcro, something like 4x the strength. Not the easiest thing if you know you'll be switching pedals often, but if you're pretty set then it's great.
My Creation Audio Labs pedals attach via hard mount which they're pre-drilled to do. The base plate gets screwed directly onto the board.

Hope that helps somewhat. Have fun building your board man!

I've seen people take apart bicycle chains and use the links to bolt pedals to boards. Genius, hah.

if you don't want to use velcro you can use screws

e.g:

i'm a sucker for velcro , since they all have velcro underneath it makes sense to me, you could do smaller bits of velcro on the pedalboard which is the exact size of the pedal, might look a bit more funky

Yea, I may end up just doing smaller bits of velcro to keep things neat...or even that 3M stuff.

Yea, I've seen that too...problem is, not all my pedals or compatible with this method.

Those are TRS jacks. Is that what you need?

I have no idea the technical term...I'm a noob at that kind of stuff.
I just want jacks on the side of my board to plug my guitar into, and then run another to my amp...is that what these are for?

No, these are stereo jacks. You need mono jacks.

Thanks for the heads up!

Is there a way to convert them?
Or do they make connectors like this in mono?

You can totally use the TRS jacks. Not a problem. Just don't use the "R" connection. Or wire the R and S together.

Awesome...I think I read something about doing this in another thread.
I'll look into it!
