I saw a couple of youtube reviews, but would like some feedback for those who have experience with this amp. How good is the amp for playing 80's hair metal and hard rock? Does it sound good at low volume levels or does it need to be cranked up to be able to produce a good tone?

Awesome amp. Room and stage. Perfect for your style.

80's hair tones have an upper mid character vs. Cornford which is voiced darker in the midrange. Best HG amp for single-coil and P90 to my ears. You can cut the bottom out of your humbuckers with a TS9 or similar type pedal... Cornford's (TME) sound best straight-in.

Here's the MK50H II preamp schematic.

I was very disappointed when I got mine , I sold it within 2 weeks . Tried to like it a second time cos I thought because everybody was raving about them at the time that maybe it was my ears or not setting it up right ,but again wasn't my cuppa tea , was a little bright sounding and nothing special in my opinion .

I've owned the MK50 original, and it's a very dry and cutting amp, not for everyone

From the feedback received, I dont think this amp is for me.

I don't think I would describe Cornford amplifiers as 'dry' sounding. They are precise, but not dry. To my ears, CAE and Splawn are dry sounding.

My mate has owned one since they first came out and I'm still in awe of it.
Its the most beautiful, expressive lead tone I've ever played.
I wish I could afford one.

From what I gather from guys I've talked to it's similar to a Marshall as far as feel/response, but a tone that rivals any of the big hitter modded Marshalls..some say better than any of the modders. I know 2 guys on this forum that have sold all their Cameron's and kept the Cornford..until then they held the Camerons #1...
