I find the Mk50 rather a good amp for metal. It can have tons of bass, it's pretty tight and it has great mids and sparkle, too. Especially when boosted it can be pretty mean.
Hell yes.... It's a metal monster.... It sounds like nothing iv ever heard... It's unique

I forgot to mention that I own a Blackface Mk50H, so I am not guessing but speak from experience.

It's kinda like an SLO with a different Depth mod that actually sounds good. Still has its own vibe going though.

Oh nice bro.. The blackface mk50 is supposed to be more raw and aggressive than the mk50 II

very cool, always liked the clips I've heard of those amps, but never realized they were aimed at metal players too.

do you have any clips, or a link to a clip that you think really shows off it's heavy side?

The MK50 is a great head. The low gain to mid gain tones are excellent as well as the high gain. I honestly would not call it a Metal amp. It can obviously do Metal but not like my Twin Jet. Ola likes the Twin Jet, No?

Hunter, which do you think is more versatile the MK50 or the XTC?

I'm not saying the mk50 was built for metal like the natas All I'm saying is that it can easily do metal any day... Id say It was built for 80s rock..

Here is a clip I play with my "metal-ish" band, I am the guy on the right, the other guitarist plays an Ueber. Guitars are splitting apart around 4:00 so you can hear them better individually - and there are some lead parts for both. I think it holds up well.

No you're probably the first... But MANY on youtube have claimed that I look like a Finnish guy played in a metal band called Winterstorm or Winterwhatever something?

I dig the Cornfords. I don't really think of them as a metal amp, but it's obviously all in the approach :D

No metal = no buy

ive been needing a new sig, i found a new winner

Can we say it in the Rhasta mode....."No woman don't cry" / "No metal no buy" :D

Love it :D

"I remember....when amps had no gain....... we needed a pedal to get there....and I remember....how we felt the pain.....no metal, no buy"

I own an MK50 II and have played the Natas. They are voiced differently, and really are different sounding amps. I don't know if there is an amp quite as fast as the Natas ... and the MK50 might have a bit more of a vintage vibe to it. I find the MK50 to be a very bright and biting amp ... very aggressive, but with a different top end compared to the Natas. The Natas is also bright, but maybe a bit faster in it's response and feel. For a metal player, might be better off with the Natas, but for a rock player the MK50 is a great choice. Both great amps. Get both!

ps. I have an Cornford MK50 and Fortin Meathead in the studio ... both have there place!
