I’m a heavy metal guy. Don’t listen to the new country that’s like a mix of rap and speed metal.
Watching ‘any which way but loose Eastwood flick for the youngsters ?’. Band playing older country. Sounds soothing
Think ‘Coca Cola cowboy’ was playing in backyard.

Anyone relate?

New cuntry/Bro Cuntry sucks ass. The good old school country kicks ass in my book. Great playing, clever writing, all wonderful stuff!

Really loved Hank jr as a kid. Hank senior I try listen to it. Just can’t.
But Toss on Johnny Cash...,, I’m there

Actually not. Just got tomorrow off. Haven’t been on the sauce much. Just got out the hospital. 4 days. Hell on earth. Millions of tests. Found out pancreatis. Low enzymes all over. High enzymes all over. It sucked badly. But no real damages. Thank god

Damn man, that sucks! Hoping for a quick and strong recovery for you, brotha.

Pick this up stat. The G3 of wicked country wailing right here.

Wanna spice up your metal playing?
Learn some country runs and work them in (Zakk Wylde and John 5 do this great)

there's some legit great country-ish\southern rock out there right now. Blackberry Smoke, The Steel Woods, Whiskey Myers, Cody Jinks, Tyler Childers. Tyler gets a little folkish for my taste, but to each their own. When I want the real stuff, I always default back to Merle and Waylon (in reading this back, I'm reminded of the irony in that I HATED Merle and Waylon as a kid lol).

Wheeler Walker Jr. kicks ass.

Check out "puss in boots" for a classic W.W.Jr tune.
Man I saw wheeler in Nashville when I was living there playing, at his album release party At exit inn, my god it was awesome….

If people turn off their local country radio channel and get on XM or apple or pay attention to the Nashville scene, they would be highly surprised, there’s more and better music in country than ever.

Ever read the story about Jeff Beck and the first time he was in Nashville?

He was at some studio in the late 60s and an older janitor asked him to check out his tele.
Beck said afterwards that he was so blown away he almost considered quitting.

Always been absolute monsters in the Country genre.

Indeed. I love watching the old school country players. There's a ton of talent there. New country isn't anything more than pop save for a few current guys that are awesome. Back in the 90s around here there used to be an old school country bar I'd go to once in a while for something different. I'd walk in there, hair more than halfway down my back and just have a great time. Was never messed with by the regulars one time. Good peeps!

Love good guitar playing of any genre. Country picking is just insane to me, can’t do it. Love listening to guys like Andy Wood, guy is a beast, has a great YouTube channel and nice as could be to boot. If you have not checked out his album Junktown, I’d really recommend giving it a listen.
Here’s one off Junktown.
