Hello Peter and all,

during the last couple of practice session, there was intermittent crackling noise coming from my speakers. It continued even after I put the amp in standby for about 10 to 15 seconds.
It seems like once the amp has been powered on for a while, they get further in between and then disappear altogether.
The last time it happened, I also saw through the front panel, that the left most power tube was quite a bit brighter than the others, then there was some more noise (almost sounded like a pop) and it went to the same brightness level as the others. After that had happened, there was no more noise for the rest of the session.
I read on the forum here, that when you get this kind of noise it is most likely a faulty power tube, so I ordered JJ-KT77 Red Label from TubeTown, which I should get before the end of the week.

Since we do have a gig we play on Saturday this week, I need some advice on if the new power tubes are likely fix the issue, since if not I would most likely have to send the order out today to get replacements for the preamp tubes for them to get here in time.

Current power tubes are Ruby 6L6GC-MSTR biased at 65ma a pair.

Thanks a lot in advance!

regards,
Martin

P.S.: I always let the tubes warm up on standby for at least 1-2 minutes before flicking the run switch to on.

Thanks a lot! I'll get a set of of preamp tubes then as well to be on the safe side.
