I had 3 or 4 people lined up today for the peavey and the Agile les paul.. not one called or showed..... lol , not really surprised. just venting. lets hear you vent.

Had a dude say he wanted my Roadster real bad. Couldn't find a time to meet so I said I'd make a trip to his house about an hour away. He plugged in a jammed it for about half an hour, sounded great. He then tells me he wishes he could buy it but he doesn't have enough money right now, especially for something that isn't his 'holy grail tone'....Fucker.

So then he e-mails me about a week later saying he's got the money and wants to meet a little closer to buy it(thought it wasn't 'his' tone ). We set up a time and before leaving I call him to make sure everything's all good and no answer, send e-mails and texts, no answer.... Fucker.

I'm pretty pissed at this point so I find some things that he's selling online, set up a fake hotmail and say I'll take everything(Marshall JMP-1, Mesa 2:90, Marshall 100/100, bunch of TC rack effects and power conditioner etc...) at asking price. I told him that I'm from an hour east of Montreal and would like to meet him in Montreal(2 hour drive for him) and he agrees. I communicate with him on this email account up until the time that he tells me he's at the meeting place but doesn't see me. He tells me what he's driving and I told him I see him and he slowly starts to think he's going crazy. I describe him perfectly(because as I said before, I'd already met him) and ask him why the hell he won't acknowledge me and he flips out, asking me my for cell number. So I give him the number for a gay sex adult store.

That's the last I heard from him, hope he had a good time in MTL.....

I'm not usually such a vindictive prick, but this guy really irked me, just the look of him too I forgot to mention that after I told him I'd take all his stuff, he e-mailed the real me and said he'd finally got his shit together to buy my Roadster for real. That was the icing on the cake.

I really don't mind tire kicking as I never get my hopes up until someeone actually arranges to meet with me. Now, if someeone wants to buy my gear, they have to show me that they have the money upfront and I tell them they can try it out to test for functionality, not too rip on it for an hour to figure out if they like the sound.

Let that be a lesson though Rob... don't fuck with people from the 'frew ......

Had a trade lined up on my local CL...my Neunaber Mono WET for this guy's Fulltone Soul Bender and an '84 Boss PH-2 (he said he REALLY wanted my pedal, and he knew I was getting the better end of the trade, but it was okay - he apparently wanted it that bad). I agreed, we set up a meeting time/place.

The day of the meeting, I emailed him to double check about the deal (his two pedals for my one) and make sure he was still down - he said yes. Later that day, I left a meeting I was in early so I could make the 45 minute drive to meet him in time. I pull in the parking lot, we meet up. I get out with my pedal...he gets out with his - but its only the Fulltone. He then pulls out his phone and shows me the Musician's Friend listing of his pedal, and says that its only fair if we trade his Fulltone for my Neunaber. I tell him yes, the values are the same...and it would be fair, but I'm not going to trade - that wasn't the deal that you agreed to twice. And we leave.

I was pissed...and I realize the straight up trade for his single pedal was probably a fair deal, but I checked with him twice to make sure the original deal was still on - that's why I was mad. Wasted my time and gas.

Thats Just Dirty and Low ... Ive had 3 meetings on CL where I was the buyer and always went with what the deal was and not haggled when we got there . If your gonna haggle do it before you set up the meeting ...

For that price range I might be able to part with one of these though, let me know which one you want and we'll set up a time to do the deal."

man that's a big drag. I've had nothing but amazing deals and experiences with Nashville's Craigslist...had my share of dumb emails but for all meet and greets it's been pretty great.

Craigslist's terrible for this stuff..... Most of the time I've had problems like this, it's when I've contacted somebody about something they've posted.... I kinda gave up on Craigslist ads a while back because of it... One guy I sent ****5***** emails to, the last one I sent him wasn't even expressing interest in the guitar anymore, I just sent him something to the extent like "word of advice, I've emailed you 5 times, blah blah blah. If you don't wanna sell something or you don't feel like replying, don't post an ad" yada yada yada.... I just go thru the "Used Gear" section on Guitar Center now... Much less hassle.
