I was using BIN primer - any suggestions now that I've made a huge mess

Wait for it to dry then do a super light wet sand till even.

Ummm...keep you sense of humor

yeah, it's actually quite comical - I can't believe how thin this stuff is - it is everywhere!!!!! I only used it because ReRanch (who sells paint specifically for guitars) suggested it.

I was waiting for the "go catch it!" response

Sounds like you are applying way too much.
Painting guitars is done in ultra thin coats.
Just let it dry and sand it down.
Next time spray very light and even coats and keep the airbrush/can about a foot away.
You can always do multiple coats for good coverage.

yup, using way too much - I'm very inexperienced and not patient in general - this is gonna take some practice!

haha I'm the same, don't think I could do lots of layers and sanding. I'd get someone else to do it.

well, it's a Strat so 70% of the front is pickguard and I don't care about the back - I was sure I could do at least that much good... :D

If it's the BIN white primer I'm thinking of, it's actually a tinted shellac. Being shellac means it is alcohol-soluble. So it should sand easy but if you have any issues you can wash it off with cheap beer. :D
