Have an old practice amp I got out the other night. When turning the knobs I'm getting lots of noise. I take it the pots have some debris/oxidation/rust in them. Is there a way to reslove this w/o haveing to open her up and replace all the bad ones?

Thanks,
John

I turn the amp off...then turn the knobs up and down really fast (as fast as I can) repeatedly. It works...I don't know if it's "good" or not...but it works.

Deoxit D-5, cleans all the gook out and lubes the pot at the same time. I've had it work on everything I've thrown at it so far, including one amp that had been in storage for years, and the knobs would not even turn (locked up) Spray it in the tiny hole in back of the pot, rapidly turn the knobs back and fourth, blow everything off with about 30 psi of air pressure, plug in and play

Cool.. thanks guys.. is that Deoxit D-5 sold at hardware stores (Lowes/Home Depot)?

I use the Radio Shack "Contact Cleaner".

It's about $10, but it's worth it.

The tiny slot opening where the soldering lugs come out. Spray the cleaner in there and start turning the knob.

It should clear it right up!

The only other local store I've seen with similar stuff "Deoxit" etc. = Menard's home super store. (probably a midwest thing)

I hate to send you there, but guitar center has it. its a little expensive, but man it works. keep in mind its a lube also. there are some cleaners out there that work great but have no lube in them. ;)

Much appreciated guys... $15 isn't bad to fix her up again.. I can swing that. Cheers
