I'm looking to order a custom LP type guitar from Wild Custom Guitars in France.
Its their version of a Les Paul. It'll be Mahogany Body, Carved Maple top, Mahogany Neck, Ebony board and Bare Knuckle Pickups.

I have always played guitars with non locking tremolo bars for some gentle movement for chords and some vibrato.
Of course, one of the great aspects of a LP type guitar is the fat tone and the sustain.

I really do want a tremolo and they can install a non locking model with locking tuners.
The PRS single cuts have them too.

Thought i'd ask you guys for your opinion. There are some Floyd Rose equipped Les Pauls, but i am not into those.
Please advise friends!

Thanks

I like having the trem, I'd go that route. The difference in tone is negligible, if at all.

I haven't noticed a drop in sustain. I played several Lesters before deciding on this one. I was worried at first about sustain and losing that huge Les Paul tone, but playing them side by side....that worry has gone.

I have a couple of Les Paul Axcess models and totally love them. They sound beautiful, sustain perfectly and look great!

Never fear the bar!

Wouldn't i be better off with a non locking tremolo system, like a PRS or Gotoh Wilkinson ?
What would be the advantages of the Floyd ?
Its also a pain to re-string and tune...

the string angle to the tuners with a les paul means a locking nut is a must really

every guitar should have a floyd

A tremolo and a LP style guitar go together like Orange Juice and toothpaste.... :bleh:

I am a OFR fan and have a few guitars with one but on a LP i say don't do it.
On the archtop LP's i do not care for the way my palm rest's on the floyd.
have you played both versions?
if you have not yet tried a LP with a floyd it may be best to see if you even like the feel.

Well considering it'll be my first LP type guitar, even with a regular bridge, i'd be getting used to the feel.

Woah: Do i understand correctly that due to the headstock angle, a locking nut is necessary ?
Does that further mean that a FR is my only tremolo option ?
