i know this is an apples to oranges debate, but i am just curious about these two companies. (possibly other companies but these were the first two that came to mind)

little bit of a backstory:

i had an old peavey superstrat type guitar way back when in the mid 90's, and i have yet to find another one like it. peavey even says i am crazy and imagining this particular description of guitar   . now before someone comes on here saying TA or Suhr are 100 times better, i just wanna point out that i already know this  . now that i am making way more money than when i was an 8th grader, i can afford better stuff so i wanna try and replicate the guitar but do it with better quality in mind.

OK, so say i want a transparent green super strat style guitar with pearl pick guard and an HSS pickup configuration, thin maple neck with rosewood fretboard, stainless frets, reverse headstock, and gold hardware with a dive only Floyd rose setup ... who would be the better option ? other company recommendations are always welcome

My preference is Anderson, but I really dig the Gotoh Floyd that Suhr uses...FWIW, I think Suhr is about a year out on custom orders.

If you can live without the reverse headstock, you can probably find a Suhr Pro with those spec's for just over 2k, vs. about 3k, going custom.

how far out are the andersons ? would he be able to do the reverse headstock and stuff ?

I'm an Anderson fan but you really can't go wrong with either one. Anderson's pickups are my absolute favorites so that tips the scales.

Yes. I have a reverse head stock Andy.

How far out depends on the dealer, they get build slots that may or may not already be spec'd.

I waited four months for my last build.

I agree, I also like the Anderson necks better.

Everyone knows I am a huge Andy fan (I have three custom order and another on to deliver in May). To be honest, you can't go wrong either way. Both companies go above and beyond for their customers.

I custom spec'ed and ordered my Anderson in February and it will deliver in May. They are on a good schedule and deliver like clockwork since they only build about 750 guitars a year. Call and talk to Roy. He will walk through all the options and help you visualize and hear what's in your head.

i think both are great guitars, i love the gotoh floyd on my suhr..but i love the neck on the anderson...
if i could only keep 1 ,id keep the TA...i want to spec out a custom in the summer.

As has been stated: both are fantastic companies, you'll get a quality guitar regardless of your choice. I personally prefer an Anderson though.

My vote is for Anderson, but I've played some nice Suhrs. TAGs just feel "right" to me.

i am just throwing this out there, but i noticed a luxxtone guitar that looked freakin killer. maybe he could build what i am after ... anyone have any reviews/thoughts on his guitar builds ?

They're ok. ;)

Suhrs and Andersons are great guitars as well. Lots of good stuff out there now. Really cool time for gear.

I have a Luxxtone, Suhr, and Charvel Custom shop...WRT super strats, you can't go wrong with any of em.

I have 2 Moderns and had a 3rd. They're the best guitars I've ever played. But I've never played an Andersen. The TAGs might be the only other guitar I look at and GAS for. But I think that's becuase they're so similar to Suhrs, yet have enough of their own vibe that I like as well.

For example, I just love the way TAG pickups look. I love the magnets, etc. If I had the cash to order a new guitar right now, it would be between another Suhr and the TAG.

You can't make a mistake here.

Throw an H2+ in the bridge of one of those Modern's, and an H1 in the neck....I really dig the Gotoh Floyd, and the 1.65 nut on most Suhrs, but haven't quite found the right neck profile yet...when I do, that's what I'll be doing :D

The Luxxtone's I've tried have been great!

Super resonant, and sound awesome. I'd have already grabbed one, but I need to sit down with Jerry, and have him copy (or close) my favorite neck :D

FWIW- to me, Luxxtone has the old Charvel thing down...not sure they do the flame maple, trans finishes, but definitely PM Shark Diver, or call TM... they'll fill you in, for sure

What Josh said. I have played them all, but the Luxxtone will give you instant gratification. I am really not a Floyd sort of guy, but with the set up Jerry does, and the comfort of the neck, they just put a lot of the others to shame....to me. That's just me though and I guess you have to like the finish options Jerry has right now vs. a fancy production model product. They are all good, but I would take a Luxxtone any day.

Steve

Sounds like you want to reward yourself with a very nice guitar so do not cut corners and go with T/A, Suhr, or CS Charvel from Chubtone. Historic brands that will hold value and have great reputations from years of business.
