Is it physically possible to install and use a D Tuna on a full floating tremolo? I realize you'd need to block the trem from pulling up, but would it hit the body since the bridge is recessed?

Anyone ever have luck doing this?

Depends on how recessed the bridge is inside the cavity. If it's so deep that the D-tuna cannot physically fit, then you'll need to shim the neck.

You can have a fully floating Floyd with no recess at all (SD era Jacksons for example), in which case you'd just need to block the trem from upward movement. If the trem is recessed, you have to cut a 'channel' out of the front of the guitar e.g. this quick grab from google:

I have a D-Tuna on my Jackson PC-1. It's close but it fits and I have enough room to tune the string. If the bridge was any lower it wouldnt work...

You can try to shim the neck so that the action remains low while have the Floyd raised up high off the body. That way, the D-Tuna can clear the recess route. But you might need a pretty steep neck angle that could end up feeling uncomfortable or awkward.
