I dunno but that is a great song from them w/ killer tone! I don't think he was using ADA yet, probably a boosted or modded Marshall.

I don't think anyone was really modding pedals back in those days. We just plugged them in. There was an SD-1, a TS-9 or a RAT........ take your pick. Things were so much easier back then before we had 500 different choices in overdrive/distortion pedals. :D

And lo and behold, tones haven't really gotten any better than they were back then either...funny how that works...

It's called having a great recording engieer. Yes it's all in the fingers!

I've seen Extreme 4 or 5 times live back then and Nono's tone each time was paper thin and got lost quite easily.

Found this on the Washburn forum...

This is what i found out a while ago

Original N4 with BL500XL and SD59, ADA MP1, Mcintosh power amps, marshall 4x12, BOSS ME5.

heres a quote from Michael Wagner...

"The setup for the guitar sound for the EXTREME sessions as well as the first SkidRow album and White Lion's "Pride" album (in most cases, not on all tracks) was a Furman PEQ-3 into an unmodified ADA MP-1 (version 1.0, still got it) going into a McIntosh transistor poweramps (2100) into an original Marshall cab with 4x G12H (30W). The mics were, if I remember it right: Fostex M11RP Ribbon, Countryman lavalier and possibly a SM57/58 going into John Hardy M-1s and from there via a mono buss into a UREI 530 EQ and a BBE 802 then to digital tape (Mitsubishi 32 tack)

Most of the sound came out of Nuno's hands, though."

heres the full thread if youve got time to read it!! some good stuff from Bob St John on the punchline album somewhere in there too.... http://www.gearslutz.com/board/high-end ... itars.html

I'll agree with you on that one. I saw Extreme live back in the early 90's a few times and Nuno's tone was never anything sepcial, very thin and "extremely" trebley.

For this first album he said he used Marshalls.

I haven't seen them every time they played live. It must have been an off night each time, but he did his shred thing and it had no cut as in the track I posted. I also suspect some alteration to that track; I mean that's 1:40 seconds of total non-stop rip. That rivals even my exotic guitar hero, Mr. Buckethead…
