Is a god damn aggressive MF`in of an amp!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love it, just bought a 5150, should have that in a week or so.

I have a Peters Gryphon, VHT UL,5150 III and the II. It sounds more brutal than all of them. Awesome amp.

Now i didn`t say it sounded better than the other amps, but for clear brutal aggressiveness, it`s hard to beat. + The clean is quite good. The switchable crunch is pretty usefull and sounds great. Too bad there1s no adjustable gain for the crunch switch, that would be perfect.

The Gryphon is still the top runner though, that won`t change anytime soon.

I always thought the original was the most pissed of all of them. I've owned the I and II, not the III

the II has less perceived gain than the original, i much prefer the II.

put it through the right cabinet/speakers and it makes all of the difference. owned a 5150 II for close to 6 or 7 years. i've been touting them for a long time, good staple amplifier that does not lack features and is built like a tank - all relay hard switching and no MIDI.

they scream

I`ve had a 5150 back then when they came out, put the gain on 10, mids zero and highs on 10, sounded like ass, returned it to the store and said my metal zone sounded better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a 6505 a couple years ago and loved it, but i had the chance to trade it for a Gryphon, + a bit of $$$ on my end. Glad i did but i missed that grind. Now i tried the II and got hooked again. I remember the I being very deep and more spongy and aggressive. When i think 5150, i think Davidian (Machine Head), that album is just brutal sounding.

It`s gonna get played through a Splawn and a Mills + an ISP sub running W/D/W with a crown amp and a G System. Watch out people.

I~m sure these will be sought after in the long run. Collector material.

Big time, but the II seems more clear and tight. But that deosn`t mean it sounds better, just different. The I, if i remember correctly, was looser, crunchier and gainier. Mixed together will be just a wall of aggressiveness.

We play some Parkway Drive and none amp does more justice to the low B than the 5150 II, well i`m sure the I will do it even better. There`s just something about these amps that gets the grind out of the lower notes.

I~m hooked.

Well, forgot to mention that i`ve got a NATAS incoming, so all of this might change in the future...

When I used to play metal I had an old 2 channel Dual Rectifier and my other guitarist had a 5150II. Those amps together was a massive wall of brutality.

i much prefer the II myself as well. even though it has less gain technically than he 5150, it has way more than anyone could ever need.

the original 5150 is still a badass mofo though, no doubt about it

did you notice the 5150 II takes effects better than the original as well?

for a short while i owned both back to back and IMHO the II balanced out better for some reason with effects in the loop than my 5150 model did.

the II is much less bitchy about tube changes changing your tone too - when it came time to tube the 5150 the tone was always drastically changing which i hated. the II is much less finicky about it with the channel layout being seperate in design. its just better

the II sounds more like a SLO as well, until you get to extreme tweaking then you see the fallback of the 5150 series with poor quality components. still though, for a 1/4 of the price id rather drop a 5150 II than a SLO. ouch

Last year I did some recording on my bands album where I used my old 5150 and my Tverb together on some tracks. Jaw dropping.

Never played through a 5150 or 5150 II, but sure regret having sold my 5150 III a while back. Loved that blue channel...
