I figured you would had swayed him over with the DS100 but apparently not. Joe switched to a 50's Fender Twin and Bassman this past year as you probably know. I know he's played a Marsha in the past also. Has he had a chance to play the BB40?

Funny thing is i wasn`t aware of that he had switched amps when i listened to some of his late 2015/ 2016 stuff on You tube. But i recognised his tone had changed but not for the better- making a bold judgment from the YT vids. I actually thought what happened to that raw tone that i loved so much- i find, judging from the videos i have heard so far with his Fender setup, he really made some steps back tonewise with that setup.
But i guess he would disagree:

I attended 2 of Joes concerts. In the first one he just used a Marshall JVM and a TSL. I think he used both in the green channel and used pedals for distortion. Killer tone that was!
Next time he used his usual setup.
I remember him saying the Dirtey shirley sounds like his silver jubilees just more articulate.
I think Joe will never stop shifting gear as long as he lives and from what i heard so far i hope he is going back to his Marshall inspired rig.

He sounds like Joe no matter what he plays but.......I agree I also do prefer his Marshall tone better. His new tone is nice but sharp sounding. He makes it work for him and he sounds great still. He said he was going for more of a traditional blues tone of his heroes instead of his "rock" tone.

Clearly he is a monster player and i would not sound as good as he does no matter what i or he plays through. But still i liked his tone through the Marshall rig a lot better while i have to admit that these statements are based on you tube clips. Looking forward to his next concert to hear how he sounds now.
I find it makes more sense staying away from Marshalls if you play Blues in a more traditional sense like Alvin Youngblood Hart

but even he has some Marshall in his setup

or in the style of Muddy Waters or Corey Harris
.
