Are the EH-6ca7's a direct replacement for EL-34's and do the have a bigger bottom/fuller sound than EL-34's?

i have used them in my amps. pop out the el34's and put the eh's in, bias and yer good to go. they do have a slightly bigger bottom and they take slightly more to break up.

I already saw that. The original guy was having issues because he was putting those in a Marshall clone that was wired differently.

Apparently it's ok with stock Marshall amps.

You gotta read further in that post... We just gotta wait until Dave chimes in to see how he's got things wired.

I suspect if Daves got them working in his amps they're good to go, i didn't read that whole thread. EH-6CA7's are $40 bucks a pair, =C= 34's are double that.

I used to have 6CA7s in my early 70s Super Lead when I was a wee 15 year old and that amp sounded great.

I have them in my stiletto and they have worked great I hope Im not fukin them up

Old Sylvania 6CA7 are awesome...the new EH ones not so much. I couldn't get them out of my amp fast enough...very hard, cold, and sterile sounding (although they don't sound bad in my Chieftain...just too much low end for that amp).
I never tried them in my Marsha...don't plan on it either.

When the tubes are pushed like in a Marshall plexi then they sound good. Almost exactly like the Sylvanias

Wow, this is old news. Traynor going back to mid 60's has been using these tubes, there amps r old baseman design/ Marshall style circuits. I have a 67 yba3 with original tubes still going strong incredible 38 years and they still work great. Yes they have bigger bottom, and do not break up early like el34.
