Door #3-- 'Post' amp, w/d/w

YUP! haha ;)

That's how I managed to get it to work in my setup. I know it's heaps of gear but it does work the best.
Basically it's w/d/d for the 'normal' subtle chorusing.

If I want extra chorus I throw pedal in front of one amp running 100% wet, while the other runs 'dry'. With the way the speakers are wired up, it becomes w/d/w.

Delay and Chorus definitely in the loop. Phaser, Vibe, Rotary...up front. That's my take on it. Chorus just doesn't sound good in front of gain to me but a phaser in the loop sounds weird too.

Got a quick question....already running a EQ pedal in the loop. Want to add a Delay pedal with it.
The Delay should go before the EQ right?
Sorry....noob question....I am normally just a plug and play guy.

I actually used the delay after the EQ when I had them in the loop. But I used the EQ as a solo boost. I dunno if that makes any difference  either.

Since I use a pedal switching device and a GMajor, I've got both. My analog chorus and delay are in front, mainly used on clean or low gain settings, and the digital stuff is all in back.

I personally always keep my time based effects and modulation effects in the Loop. And always in a Parallel loop too, so i can keep my dry un-touched signal pure and have the Loop act as a side chain that i can blend in.

However, i'll admit that I'm really not a fan of chorus at all. If i need some modulation, i would much rather use a modulated delay so that only the trails are being chorused. OR i'll use micro pitch-shifting, like EVH does with his W/D/W rig. Sounds just like chorus but without the washy/swirly sound..

If i want to have a wider/wetter sound, then i find the best thing to do is take a small poweramp like a Crate Powerblock or EH 44 Magnum and a little 1x12 cab for the wet side. Then i can do the Wet/Dry setup. Even though the wet cab is only a small 1x12, once it gets miked up, it is more than loud enough and easier to keep the tone balanced onstage IMO. I'm pretty sure Landau did something similar to this in the past for small club shows and he always got a mega tone.
