I'm building a second pedal board for a band I'm starting to jam with.
I'm thinking I won't be needing a lot of different effects so this will be pretty simple.
Tuner, Decimator, Delay, Reverb, volume boost for solos, and maybe a Chorus pedal of some type.
I'm using a VH4 and will probably run in the loop.
I currently have a El Capistan but I think that will be overkill for this set up.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

I sure love my nemesis delay from Source Audio, such a warm and deep sounding delay. Very versatile. But maybe a bit overkill for a simple board.

Flashback 2 is a pretty solid delay, especially with the tone print. Can get pretty warm or crystal clear too.

But the clearest delays are from Boss IMO, digital sounding yes but that is the point. I have a DD7 that sounds great and has lots of,options.

If you’re looking for analog delays the Carbon Copy is a real nice simple and affordable pedal, and it lets you add a little chorus to the delayed sound if you’re so inclined. The Maxon delays all sound great but they are ridiculously expensive. If you know a degenerate gambler that owns one it would be worth your while to keep tabs on him and buy it off him when he’s been on a big lose and trying to make rent. Just saying...

A little off topic, sorry but....

Was looking at your Sig and damn, we are so alike!!!!

I have an ESP scythe witch i play through my Peters FSM with an Empress paraeq into a VHT cab with p 50s.

How do you like the Bodyhammer? Did you ever compare it with the FSM?

If you're looking for delay and you're considering adding a chorus, you really should try the True Tone H2O. It's a fantastic sounding pedal that does both delay and chorus. Very fat sounding analog-ish pedal.

Ha!! “Great minds” and so on!

I love my Bodyhammer! Ive never heard the FSM aside from YouTube videos but my understanding is that the BH doesn’t have as much gain as the FSM, at least on the “crunch” channel. I believe that it was purposefully made that way because James’ intent for the newer amps was to make a rhythm channel that was tighter and dryer than the lead channel. The lead chan being very similarly voiced but perhaps a bit more compressed, slightly fatter and looser - ie, good for leads.
I boost it, and it sounds amazing. I really like it, but then I like to boost just about everything I play through.

Quick aside: If I had it to do over again I’d get the two channel and not the three channel. James tried to explain it to me but I was so excited to be able to get one of his amps that it didn’t sink in til later. I wanted to get a super clean pristine sound for the clean channel and he told me that it would be clean and it would sound good, but because of the compromises that I’d be making with speaker selection and closed back cabs, it would never be that ultimate awesome clean sound that I was hearing in my head.
I’m currently window shopping for a 212 combo amp that will give me amazing cleans that I can A/B with the BH. In the meantime, fuck it - no cleans for me!!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast, already in progress.

I'd get an H9 Max & Core and a Fortin Zuul and call it a day. Or an FX-8 and use the MIDI functionality to change channels on the VH4.

WOW! I'd never heard of that one before, looks like a killer pedal for a cheap price. The youtube demos look cool

I have the H2O V3 pedal, and love it. it only requires one power source and gives you two pedals that can be ran separately or together. id highly recommend it for the price

The Halo channel on my triple sounds great, super clean if i want too or a little bit of gritt if needed. All the way to some classic crunch tones. Very versatile.

Anyways, would really like to try out a Bodyhammer sometime, might want to get one at some point. Debating what to get next as my modern tone generating machine.... Revv 100P....Bodyhammer......Juno....... The later might not be modern enough though........

Damn choices

I really like the carbon copy and I think I like the boss dm2-was even more. It's really good.

I really like TC delays. The Nova Repeater is my favorite delay pedal. Love the audio tap feature and the 2290 algorithm.

I also have a TC M300 for sale. Not a pedal but just as easy to use. Would work well with the VH4 since the amp has MIDI. You could control it all from a single footcontroller.

I love delay. I don't know how anybody can have only one delay on their board. Haha.

Loving my Alexander quadrant.
+1
Has to be my fave all rounder delay. If I could only have one delay, this would be it. It has 4 killer sounding delay types, each with their own character and sound covering everything from lo-fi and murky to crystal clear digital. And each delay type has its own unique sounding chorus type to go with it (and the chorus depth and rate are totally adjustable). All parameters are clearly labelled & accessible through the front interface - no annoying hidden controls under the hood. And to top it off, it has 4 easily accessible presets via its footswitches.
Seriously great delay pedal.

I have a couple Hardwire delays on my board that are inexpensive and sound great. I like that they have a rubber covers that goes over the knobs so they don't get moved during transport
