The tone on this album is amazing, pretty much perfect to be honest. Any of you guys know what he used to record it? I'd guess a Charvel of some sort with a JB into a boosted Marshall Plexi?

I'm thinking he and Robbin used SLO's at that point.

Have you heard the record after that one, "Detonator"? Even better than "Dancin". I've never been able to get a credible answer on what was used on these later records, but it sounds like modded/boosted Super Leads to me. Jose mod, perhaps?

Sounds like SLOs to me but yeah maybe it is a boosted Plexi.

Yeah I really like that album as well. Tone sounds pretty similar to me, both are killer. Every track on Dancing is awesome though.

Dancing is a old white plexi super lead .that ran so hot they kept fans running on it constantly

I remember reading a article that towards the end of the record it was dying blowing fuses and tubes galore and warren used an Slo.

it was his favourite amp and (the one that lynch tried to steal.)that after that record never sounded .the same .
He used the SLO on Reach for the sky .and again on Detonater

I don't think he was using the SLO until "Reach for the Sky". To my ears Soldanos have always had a pretty identifiable midrange honk that I personally don't hear on "Dancing". There was a short interview in a recent guitar player(I think) magazine (had Brian May on the cover) where Warren talked about using late 70's JMP's for the EP and most of "Out of the Cellar" and with the success of Cellar was able to afford a collection of Plexis for Invasion. Does anyone else think the drums on Dancing are ungodly loud? I just noticed that about week ago.... Great album... I just wish Beau Hill would come to my house and engineer while I track guitars...

Actually, it's possible Beau Hill brought studio guys in because of a time constraint. ;)
Maybe Mike Slamer or Michael Landau.

other than that, it could've been:

Plexi
SLO
Laney
etc.

On 'Dancing' and 'Reach For the Sky' is the Plexi (the one that Lynch tried to steal).
Detonator and onwards strictly SLO.
And Robin never used SLOs actually only Warren.

Yeah I was reading about how that one Plexi he had was "magical." I assume he was using some sort of boost with that?

So it's safe to say your GMW will not get the 'downtuned' treatment? :D

EQ before gain, EQ after gain.

with the Marshall, they did something like, boost 800 hz pre, cut 800 hz post.

Guys, I'm scared... Is the world coming to an end? MegaMark loves Ratt, bought a DeMartini GMW, is keeping the guitar tuned standard, and referred to DeMartini's tone as "perfect." WTF???
