either you love or hate king's vocals
to me they were the best guitar team of the early 80's/ever
the schenker/roth /downing /tipton influences are on their sleeve but there is that extra special evil -dust on their riffs/tone/solos/writing
on the left hand path
solo's are denner/sherman/denner

Big influence in my formative days! King's vocals/lyrics are an acquired taste for sure, I wasn't half as annoyed by him then as I am now. Denner and Sherman are still ok in my book.

Dug this album, but much prefer Andy. Them is fucking brilliant.

Guys who were pretty much ahead and behind of the underground at the same time if that makes any sense. No one could really match their feel and songwriting or even try. Even the later albums were full of everything they pefected on those few early releases.

Love that duo and the first two Mercyful albums. It was always obvious to me that King Diamond (and Denner/Sherman) were influenced by Judas Priest especially the Stained Class album.

I'm partial to King's LaRouque/Black pairing and now LaRoque/Wead pairing myself but, I don't think there is a such thing as a bad KD lineup.

i was lucky enough to see them back in the early 80's, opening up for Motorhead. I thought Hank Sherman looked so cool, because the entire band and stage was black, and he was wearing a white shirt and white pants. Show was good, but KD could be a bit campy at times.

King Diamond's dialogue with the audience between songs was hilarious!

Hell yeah!! Sherman & Denner are one of my favorite duos also. Huge fan of Andy Laroque as well! Saw KD/MF live around 8? times. All of his guitarists were so underrated. Shame. Actually saw King Diamond & Trouble in 86 at the first ever METAL FEST in Milwaukee. That was an AWESOME show!! Death Angel & Nuclear Assault were also on that bill. Anyone know the health status on the King?? Wanna hear some new material soon!! Good to know there are others who appreciate the talent of these guys! Long live the King & DON'T BREAK THE OATH!! lol

all I can say is : I love their guitar playin' & LONG LIVE THE KING \m/

This is an awesome album! My top KD albums are Abigail, Them and Conspiracy along with this one. Pure awesomeness. I can remember when Z-Rock was around, that was the first time I heard Family Ghost. Got that album right after that. :)

I was at the '86 Metalfest show too! The KD theatrics were a bit much   We watched a few songs of the KD set and then wandered off to the bar. ...Great show nonetheless! Managed to get in a few stage dives during Nuclear Assault's set.

Massive KD fan here, though I much prefer King Diamond to Mercyful Fate.

Abigail and Conspiracy are fucking ridiculous and are still a huge influence on me.

Huge fan here as well. When I hear Melissa now I am amazed at how little gain there is. Back then I thought it was the heaviest shit.
