Someone please explain the difference between these two effects for me. For instance, the detune effect evh uses versus a chorus effect. Or are they the same thing? Thanks!

The detune effect is – to some extent – similar to a
chorus: The source signal is split and a specified amount
of the signal is detuned by an adjustable amount of cents
(100 Cent = 1 semitone). The main difference between
the detune effect and the chorus effect is that the detune
amount does not change: the modulating pitch is
specified as an offset to the original pitch.
The detune effect comprises two voices. If you think your
sound is simply too direct and clean, try a setting with
only a few cent off, on both voices – e.g. +2 cent on
voice 1 and -3 cent on voice 2.

(from the nova system manual)

:)

Chorus has a varied modulation on top of it - a warble. Detune is simply chorus without the varied modulation.

Yeah I always thought of detune as a 'dry chorus', if that makes any sense. Chords and rhythm playing typically sound pretty similar, but solos with detune seem to retain clarity and add a certain pop, whereas chorus -- to me anyways -- almost muddies up the sound. YMMV.

Thanks for the replies. I dig the detune the Eddie uses and always thought it sounded "cleaner" than a chorus.

Probably gonna pick up a boss pitch whatever it's called on work on a wet/dry set up.

So the detuner is the fabled micro pitch shift EVH used? I have heard of this a few times.
