Diamond Heretic or Diezel Hagen

I'd go Diezel of those two. Not even close. Honestly though, I haven't heard a Hagen clip that's really blown me away. My favorite so far was one of the early clips with a tele. The Einstein sounds the best to my ears, as far as recorded tone. Only Diezel I played was a VH4 and I really liked it.

Those diamond clips were just terrible, the first two especially had a really raspy distorted tone that I didnt like at all, kind of reminded me of a bad distortion box. It could have been the way the amp was set up and recorded though. The diamond does have a different tone then almost anything else out though. The diezel smoked the diamond line by a longshot.

Diamond amps are among the worst sounding amplifiers I have ever heard. I have no idea who is doing the R&D and design work for them but they consistently put out products that sound awful. I am sure they are built well, they just sound bad. :aww:

I'd agree. except for the Hammersmith. It's a pretty cool modded marshall-type amp. I think you'd like that one. They have one over at Guitar Res. Mike consulted on the voicing/design.

This reminds me of a post that some dealer at TGP made about Diamond in a thread about cloning amps, boasting that the owner was a litigation attorney and no one would dare copy his designs or they would get sued.

Martin Goulb was doing all their R@D, I assume he is still the guy.

[Hagen] Believe me, its 'blow away' factor is huge, it's just so hard to capture on 'clips'. I'm working on it, been away from home for lengthy stints, and when I am there I'm trying lay it down so that it sounds as I hear it.

Hagen's sick, period.

Yeah I figured. I've been a diezel freak for years ever since I heard Herbert I broke my ass to buy it brand new still have it. Nothing ever takes diezel tone away. I owned two diamond amps nitrox n phantom. They were really cool. Should have not sold the phantom. I own a Dar forza now. It's pretty amazing. But I want the Hagen. But the clips have been less than appealing. Sorry!

all three of those Diamonds sounded pretty rough to me. maybe it was eq and playing style, but man there was no crispness or attack! nada! just buzz and chunk

i haven't heard a Diezel that wasn't sick, and i have heard Hagen is the best. haven't played Hagen, just heard it. played a Herbert mk1 that was killer, seen some vh4's that were crazy good. also seen some vh4's that had bad "operators", hence bad tone. hoping to pick me up an Einstein someday!

but then, what do i know? i play a Splawn with those dirty weird mids

Absolutely agree.

The forza has a super pristine tone to it. I hate splawn had 3 nitro n borrowed a quickrod. One day they sound great the next day they sound like crap? Probably me. Whatever. Forza is way diff than diezel cannot compare just know I love them both. Next stop hagen!

Yeah, I talked to him about it a long time ago. Didn't seem like he was into it. Maybe the final one came out better. In any event, I am not interested in any Diamond product so it is an easy one for me.

I know he was involved early on, not sure anymore.
