Sorry if this is rehashing an old post. I haven't seen one on it. Also this might be a very stupid question, so I apologize in advance. Is there a way to tell the difference between the German/American made Diezel cabs?

Diezel never made anything in other countries but Germany. So any "made in usa" Diezel Cabs (supposedly there are some out there) are fakes.

I have no idea how these fake look like or sound, but the regular Diezel Cabinets simply sound awesome.

If you get around a suspicious smelling Diezel Cab and you are unsure if it is real, but you can't tell, then you anyway have proven not be worthy of the true Diezel power.^^

thats not true.... ;) , at the beggining, diezel made several kind of cabs in the usa by some manufacturers, there was a run of them made in california, that were good. but other ones made in the east side were not so good, and then, after that appeared several fakes.

german ones are superb, but check it the usa made well...i dont know were they made them (west or east), or maybe a fake, if you have pics, peter diezel or peter stapfer would help you more.

p.e. my avatar, the cab is a california diezel with v30...now its gone, and i am more than happy with my german made fronts...

hope this help you!

@Bernie So how could you tell the difference between your old American made one and your new German made one? Are there any distinct markings or build quality differences?

Peter has said before that no diezel products have ever been made outside of germany.

He's gettin' heavy, man... Like whoa heavy. Least we got a truth-seeker on board and there's never anything wrong with that

Haha, sorry guys. I'm extremely new to the Diezel family and I'm trying to learn all I can!! :-) I was born in Germany (Army Brat) so it's kind of personal, haha.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=106885&hilit=diezel+usa+cabs

the german are perfect made for diezel heads. one of the usa makers use to made the bogner, custom audio, etc cabs...and the diezels...

but i cant tell more...i am not the man.

my cabs now are awesome!

I posted on that thread when it first came up. A usa diezel cab is like a licensed floyd rose. The usa diezels are by no means horrible i'm sure but they aren't the same.

I have a USA made Diezel cab that I bought unloaded from Brad. It's a rear load that I put a quad of EVM12L Black Labels in. I also bought one of the German made cabs. Also from Brad. It's a front load with the G12K-100's. Both 4x12's.

It's kind of hard to say which is better since they have different speakers, in addition to being front load vs rear. The EVM's have massive power handling and also a monstrous bottom end. But they are also not what comes with these cabs stock. So it's probably not fair to compare it to cabs with different speakers.

I think the German front load is my current favorite though. It's got plenty of bottom end and is still very clear. It's very modern sounding and works perfectly for what I play.

I couldn't tell you how to tell which cabs are USA or German. But both cabs are well built, and will be better quality than something like a Marshall 1960. Although when I first got my Herbert, my 1960 cab sounded better(to me) than a Mesa Recto cab and my Vader.

I have said it before, that I have yet to see one of these fake cabs. No one has ever posted up here that they have seen, borrowed, owned, own a fake Diezel cab. There WERE cabs made for Diezel here in the states. It's the same cabinet maker that was making them for Bogner for a while, which is why 5 years ago, a Bogner and Diezel cab looked basically identical as far as the cab corners, handles, jack, jack location, etc.

I would not sweat it, if I was looking at one and it appeared to be solid and sounded good, I'd buy it. The chances of finding a new style German made cab on say, your local CL is nearly impossible. If there is a Diezel cab on someone's CL, it's likely going to be the older USA version. Even on the internet the new style cabs are rare, I believe I bought the very first german made 412FL cab to hit the used market back in '09, and I have only seen a small handful for sale since. I picked up another one, one of the NAMM show cabs a few months ago.

papa lied to me :( (i guess he must have been referring just to the amps)

So from 2003 till 2007 Diezel made Cabs in the US using just poplar instead of the poplar/okoume-mix as in the German-made Cabs.
As of 2008 Diezel produces their Cabs exclusively in Germany in the new workshop in Dillingen. Also as of 2008 the Cabinets have a new way of fixing the baffles, resulting in a "more 3-dimensional" sound.

So we got 3 different types of production:
-the pre2008
-the US-made
-the post2008 "new" made in Germany Cab

According to the master Peter Stapfer they all sound similar, with the "new" ones sounding best and the US-mades sounding very close to the German-mades.
