i have a herbert running a 2*12 cab with celestions gt 100 , just took up bass, herbert ok with a bass guitar? anyone using for this?

Typically, it's fine to run bass through a guitar amp (and IMO if often sounds AWESOME) but I would definitely get another cab. Your speakers are whats' really at risk here.

yhanks for the reply, im just using it at home right now, real low volume, i saw tool in pittsburg a few years back, totaly spectacular! amazing show...

A Herbert and a bass? That's like going 4 wheeling in a Ferrari.....

i actually bought my diezel einstein head off our bassist =)

he was running his bass through a 16 i think band rack EQ into the diezel into a 8x10 ampeg cab, sounded killer

the EQ is a big thing in the signal chain, he's using a JCM2000 now , still sounds great albeit with a looser low end

have another friend who's using a jcm2000 into a 8x 10 and a marshall 50w jmp clone into a 4x10 , all for bass, sounds great, although he does have a distinct tuning playing style

i would also get a diff. cab if you're going to start doing that kind of thing often at higher volumes

Yea, just make sure you have a bass cab. You should be just fine! Sounds awesome

thanks for all the fine advice, i will fit that cab with proper bass speakers. thanks again

just an update, upgraded my 2*12 cab with 1 EV comparable speakers from an ebay dealer. hand made all american high grade components, massive voice coils and magnets crystal clear sound. very warm harmonics and tone. thanks for the help..

Have you tried it on Chan 2 with "minus" engaged? I bet this would sound killer!

EV's can handle bass okay, so that is a good change.

I have run my Jazz bass through my Mesa mark IVA through a 210 Ampeg bass cab. Sounded good, it was nice to be able to crank up the amp.
