Diezel to Friedman?

Has anyone else used a Diezel as their main amp and went to the BE-100? The amps are so different I think I'm probably the only one but that's the direction I'm leaning.
 
I don't quite qualify to answer but we recorded my previous bands' album with VH4, pretty much used it on all guitars.
It recorded really well and it was easy getting great tones out of it but I always felt it was a bit "dry" and "sterile" ... maybe "Hi-Fi" would be a better descriptive.

My BE-100 on the other hand is much juicier and much more "alive".

After recording that album I wanted a VH4 badly but in all honesty I wouldn't know what to do with 4 channels ... hell, I don't even use clean on my BE.
 
Well,

I had an Einstein and a Schmidt, could play the VH4. All great amps, especially the VH4 was phantastic.
Of the Friedmans I played the PT, BE100, DS and SB. All great too.

It is a matter of taste - they are voiced different - I would say, Friedmans lean more towards the marshallesque side, while the Diezels have their own thing going on.

You should play them by yourself and decide then - if you are a Marshall guy, go for the Friedman - Be100 is great.
It also really depends, what kind of music you are playing. VH4 is very versatile.
I play the Small Box now, it is a little bit more old school, and, as I said, I am leaning towards the british side.
 
Yeah unfortunately I can't afford to own both. I definitely lean to the hot rodded Marshall tones but I always came away from those amps wanting more bottom end. I think I've tried everything but the Friedman or a Soldano.

Well........no. I'll have to decline that offer :gethim:

I used to have all sorts of amps but have settled on these two for about three years. I run the Diezel thru the Mills cab for the more modern stuff and the Friedman thru the Orange for the Marshally stuff. I have it set up where I run my pedalboard into a Lehle Little Dual so that I can run both amps in stereo. Just crazy good tones!
 
If you are interested in low-end Diezel Herbert is "IT." Great tones and 3 channels too.
Midi capable, mid-cut, 2 MV, great loop, great cleans, great Diezel tones!! Love this amp!!
VH4 is versatile with 4 channels and channel 3 is a staple tone for many these days.
Hagen has 4 channels, is more open sounding IMO, and has all the Diezel goodies as well.

The Friedman is a hot-rodded Marshall...that's what everyone says.
I hear the JJ has some good low-end. I don't own one, yet.
If you are looking for more Marshall-like tones, Friedman is gonna give you that.

Both is the way to go surely, yet it will be a very personal decision if it has to be a choice.
Then again, each has a few models these days...maybe you will need 2 of each, LOL.

I haven't switched but a Smallbox is my current #1. If you can own both do it :rock: 2 best amp builders IMO. I have a Einstein (100w) and a Smallbox. Diezel does fender-esq clean to Hi-fi gain. Smallbox covers all the Marshally goodness from Plexi to modern modded Marshall. And their fx loops are the kicker, best in the biz.
 
I own a Vh4, Herbert, Tons of other crap, And Dirty brown eye fully loaded with a Friedman cab.
They are all unique birds. I will say this the Friedman touch responsiveness is unbelievable. Its so easy to play with any level of gain. Just so you know Im currently using the Friedman In a really low-end Drop A tuned project with lots of sounds scapes and fast explosive playing. It has now become my main amp When I'm using it solo or when I'm blending it with another amp. It can get brutal too more so then people realize In a real organic way. Of course it does the modded marshall gig so well. You will be shocked at the versatility of the Friedman. The fat, Voicing switch and my personal favorite the saturation switch gets you anywhere you wanna go. Now The down side is there is no midi control multiple channels? However there are lots of work arounds.
Its a tough comparison because they really are on the different ends of the world, But they can both get you where you want to go.

I own a Herbert, VH4 and BE100 and more.... As mentioned they are all very good at doing what they do. I think Diezels have their own sound which is hard to acomplish. The Friedman just does a fantastic job at the hot rod marshall period. Depends what you are looking for.
 
I'm in the process of doing that right now. I have a D-moll and I bought a BE-100. Still waiting for the Friedman to be delivered so I will touch base when I get it.
 
I did it. Went from the Hagen to an SS-100. I'm a huge Steve Stevens fan so I've wanted one for awhile. Not really a fan of the Diezel's voicing. Great amps, and build quality, just not for me.
