Sorry for the second post as my previouse post was deleted somehow in the update. I have a new Diezel Herbert. I need to make the tone thicker--more bass. Any suggestions regarding a change in tubes? It has the original tubes in it. How about KT88s? What about the use of an eq? The amp is little bit too trebly for me. Thanks in advance for any help you may provide. The amp does not cut well when I play live with the band.

Here's what I can offer. I am not a big fan of the Mesa cab but alot of guys are so more power to that. To me they are a little boomy and mid lacking. The Diezel cab with V30s or an Orange cab is what I would recomend for a more cutting sound. The biggest thing however is probably how you set the amp up. If you keep the gain low and crank the channel vol it gets much clearer(on my VH4 I turn the channel vol all the way up and adjust the output with the gain and it works great). I know alot of metalheads will say that is wrong but in my opinion it never cuts with the gain way up and the mid cut feature enabled. That amp is a bass monster but with so many features it is easy to adjust the cutting power out of it in favor of bedroom or living room volumn. Especially when playing alone. Good luck and play loud!
