Anybody here ever experimented with certain speakers in you DIEZEL cab? If so, what were the results?
For example...: putting GK100's in the RL cab and it sounding smooth and dark...etc..etc..

if i remember correctly, Peter S had said the G12Ks didnt sound so good in the RL cabs. I know they sound great in the FL cabs (either all 4 or in an X with the V30s.) if you have the speakers , give them a try. may be suprising.

Im wondering why.. maybe to bright, dark, boomy. Its really a matter of taste. Im really interested in what he "Heard". Because for example, people hate dark tone, but i love it.
I must confess im curious because im thinking of doing an x pattern in my diezel rl with another speaker.

I'm using an old Diezel RL 412 loaded with the G12K100 and realy enjoy it. I play every kind of music like traditional rock, funk, fusion, new-orleans-jazz and metal. Never had any issue with my sound or what ever. Well, it might be less good-sounding for sparkling clean because it is not that lusty but if so, I gonna take a strat and the problem is gone. Give it a try and get a box and a few speakers to check it out for youself.

Since ages I'm using the G75T/V30s combination in all of my cabs, not in a 1x12" though :D

RL 2x12"
FL 4x12"

To me thats the most balanced sound with enough mids, a tight bottom end and treble which isn't too harsh. Alternatively (if I remember thats in my Marshall 2x12") instead of a G75T you can also use a CL80.

I have a Diezel 2x12FL cab. I'm running two of the Eminence George Lynch SuperV112s. They are based on an old Fane speaker that used to run in HiWatt cabs in the 70s.

Holy moly did it wake up the dead!
Tons of bottom, clear, clean and crisp

I have a cab that sounds perfect to my ears!

I've been using Mesa C90s or older Rola G12-80s (both similar/predecessors to the CL80) mixed with V30s. I love the response of those speakers with my Herbert, either by themselves or in conjunction with V30s. It's much as you describe, plenty of mids, tight bottom and treble that's very present, but not harsh. I switched from the T75 to C90s/G12-80s mainly for a little better mid response and a smoother top end (I found the T75 a little to mid scooped and harsher on top).

Well the hempcones are dominating in the area of cleans, bluesy grit, and heavy rythym. BUT
What i need is something to "smooth" it out, tone it down, make it darker etc.. for the more Eric Johnson'y lead stuff. I dont like my lead stuff always sounding distorted. I like that tone That EJ had in "Desert Rose". Overdriven but not grainy, or gainy.
