Digitech GSP1101 vs. TC Electronics G-Major 2

Which one would be better for me? I play metal, and I don't need much effects, just delay, reverb, chorus, and I can't decide. The amp modeling of the GSP1101 makes me want it badly so I can finally make good recordings, silently, direct-in, and I can also use it for effects with my amp. But, the TC has a harmonizer, which would be immensly useful, because I am in a one guitar band, and I hear the effects are better.

Which one?
 
Hands down absolutely the Digitech GSP1101 :thumbsup: .


Straightforward, easy to use, simple yet very versatile, no tone suckage, can be used in front and in the fx loop, can also be used as a main preamp or a backup, also a backup of very cool effects pedals (e.g. Phase 90, Electric Mistress etc.), in-built Lexicon reverbs (Lexicon is the big sister of Digitech), warm sounds, and cheaper!
 
WOW! I'm the complete opposite! I tried the 1101 and just hated it. The GM2 has incredible effects and you get so much for $400.

Tone suckage is one thing i'm worried about, and good to hear the GSP has none. I have an old ART Multiverb that sucks alot of tone with my mark III, wasn't sure if my amp just has a shitty loop, or that the pedal was at fault. Any more opinions? Those who voted the Gmajor, why?
 
I love the GSP1101 with my Mark III.

I use it for effects and a nice clean tone.


Not a big fan of many of the amp models, but some of the Marshall stuff is nice.

I only use effects and the JC120 amp model right now.
 
I voted for the G-major 2 because I've had Digitech products and TC Electronics products and prefered the TC gear. But both units work better in different setups. The G-major is just fx so if you need something with overdrives you should look at the Digitech. I don't think you'll go wrong with either unit.
 
I like the GSP with my Randall Lynch Box and probably would have kept it if I had the floor controller for it. I used it primarily for delays, chorus and few effects. Didn't use the amp models at all.

You can't judge the GSP1101 on any past Digitech unit. I too have owned both in the past and was left with a bad opinion of Digitech for a long time. I recently updated my rig... I had been using the original GMajor since 2001 and almost bought the Gmajor2. Then I got my hands on a GSP1101 and it blew me away... better than anything else out there in it's price range.
 
Ive read a lot of people say the GM2 has a delay when switching presets. Thats something to keep in mind.

I REALLY want to check out a GSP1101 :)
 
I just feel the gsp fx are more like the original pedals. with a few models each to choose from where tc is n has its own version of the fx. tc delays,verbs n chorus r nice but to me other fx lack.phase flange,etc... plus the 4 cable method allows you to put em where they need to be like wah in front. I use this unit in my simple rig w vh4 and the digitech controller 2... works very well.plug n go
 
IMO, the 1101 is very cool on its own, but it sucked the life right out of my Eggy M4 and Bogner Fish.

I don't recommend it for adding fx to your existing rig.

I'm using the GSP for modelling and the Major II for fx.
 
I wanted something incredibly simple that LACKS a ton of "bells and whistles." I don't need amp modeling or any of that, I've got a monster amp (Diezel Herbert) and just wanted something that would add quality reverb, delay, and chorus that functions through midi switching. The GM2 delivers that without effecting the raw tone of my Herbert.
 
The only reason I don't simply choose the G Major is because of the recording capabilities of the GSP. I can;t seem to get a good recording tone, and GSP clips sound amazing. Anyone have any more clips?
 
I've owned both and greatly prefer the 1101.
Best unit of it's kind ever made at its price point IMHO
I've used it in 4CM with several different tube amps and experienced no tone suck at all.
Definitely way less loading than using my TB and boutique pedalboard.

G major 2 has far less tone suck and sounds awesome in the loop of my einstein.
 
Eh, I'd say if you are just looking for those three fx, just pick up a few pedals, but I digress. Out of the two I would pick the G Major

Same here!


But I can't until I sell off some gear first, including some TC Electronic stuff...
