Looking to replace the pickups in a new guitar I just got and have offers for both of these. The Anniversaries are a bit more expensive but I assume better sounding, I'm just not sure if they'll be too low output for me. These sets would be going in a Tele with a Nyatoh body, maple neck/board and a 2-point trem. Mostly playing metal through a Bogner 101b, Diezel Einstein or PRS Archon 100.

Current pickups are muddy and have way too much low-end. The bridge also has lots of feedback when overdriven to metal levels. The neck actually isn't too bad and I really like their split tones but the bridge is unusable for metal for me as a humbucker. I'm typically in Drop C, but I might keep this in Drop D cause I don't really want to have to deal with heavier strings on the trem.

Anyone had either of these?

I just put a set of 36 Ann's in a SG ..... very happy with the results ... don't know if I'd use them for metal ....but for the sounds I was looking to get out of the SG ... they are great !

I kinda like the idea of this guitar having a completely different sound than my others. I think the lowest output passive bridge pickup I have in a guitar right now is 14.1k. My favorite pickups I've ever used were the stock pickups in an EBMM Stingray, which I've heard compared in output to the Duncan Pearly Gates, which is their PAF clone. I assume with my amps, I wouldn't need the extra output of a "metal" pickup...

You only want DMZ's? I really like the set of tonenerds I got off of scottosan. And since I've discovered the 24v mod I'm finally really liking emg's....

Yeah, the PAF 36th Annis are nice. A bit rounder and fatter than the Duncan alternatives, but equally nice.

Haven't tried the Fusion Edges. Are those the ones they use on Ibanez guitars?

that's exactly why I went with the 36's ....... all my other Humbucker equipped guitars have JB's in the bridge and Pearly gates in the neck ... other than my PRS which I just installed a SD and a Steve Morse sig in the neck .... which I really like a lot .

I actually really love my Psykes bridge from Scott, but I think a set would be more than I'd want to spend. I'll have to check his prices, I don't even know if he does white?? @scottosan

Yeah the Fusions come on their newer Prestiges. Curious about them since they actually have the DiMarzio name on them instead of IBZ or whatever.

Yeah, I love the JB and all my other pickups but I tend to stick with pickups that I know are "safe" and not explore outside of those. The Anniversaries are intriguing because they're so different, haha!
