I'm looking for a medium output bridge humbucker for my Strat.
I want to try Dimarzio, and have been looking at the Air Zone.

Mainly I want something full/thick sounding, not to bright and low noise.
Right now I have a stock Fender Atomic humbucker. On paper it's virtually identical to a JB and sounds very close to it as well. Although I find it to be too hot, bright and noisy. I find I need to lower the pickup substantially to reduce it's bite and output. So I would like something less over the top and maybe thicker(?)

Also been looking at the Dimarzio PAF style pups, but I'm worried they may be too bright in a Strat?

Any pointers from Dimarzio experts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

i'm in love with the mo'joe i have in my RG. could possibly be too bright for your strat though. depends on what amp you use i'd say.
i tried a JB in it after putting the mo'joe in and absolutely hated it i tried to leave it in and see if it grew on me just hatedhatedhated it compared to the mo'joe lol. the JB was much more trebly/ice-picky.
my RG's a 520 which is mahogany with an EDGE bridge maple neck rosewood board.

a mo'joe is a FRED with just a bit more output.

Ok Mo Joe, that was on my short list as well.
Wonder how it would do in an alder Strat?
Looking for reasonably thick crunch tones with moderate highs and mids.

Breed Bridge, although it might be a touch too hot for you.

I've got an Air Norton in the bridge pos of my Custom shop Set neck Strat. I've tried SD '59's, Air Zone, Steve's Special, and the stock pickup, which is a Dimarzio, just not a standard offering. So far I like the Air Norton because it's nice and fat, but not muddy. Bonus, when you split it, it's got all the jangle and twang would would expect from a normal single.

i only have experience with it in my RG, but i know it sounds glorious through my TSL with the gain turned down to like 1 on the crunch channel lol. AC/DC all day long.
and with some gain it does a really good early VH in my opinion, but then again that's partly your amp and stuff. it pairs wonderfully with the PAF joe, but i guess you might not have a humbucker bridge position.
it's definitely one to try for sure. seems to be more thick/clear/balanced than a JB and less output.

Thanks guys, just to be clear the guitar is HSS config.
(Axe in question)

Keep em coming!

i think the satch man has a signature S-series guitar that is H/S config that has the mo joe. not sure what other single coil is in it for the neck but i think he has a youtube video talking about it.

The AT1, Andy Timmons model, is awesome in the bridge of a strat.

Completely forgot about that one. It'd probably be your best bet.

Sounds like you're looking for the 36th anniversary.
I did a couple clips yesterday with it. Here check it out.

Wow that sounds great Vrad thanks. It sounds like it stays articulate under higher gain and has that PAF raunch to it.

Yeah I was pretty impressed with it. Actually, the pickups in that guitar are great all around. They're 2 Area '61s and the 36th anniversary. So overall, it's a kickass strat. LOL! :D

Yeah, I swapped the Super Distortion out of my parts Strat for one of these, and couldn't be happier. Works so much better with my Virtual Vintage middle and neck singles. I did a bad clip of it(and the other pickups in that guitar) with my Peavey Transformer when I first got it.
