So i have had a Duncan Little 59 in the neck position of my GMW for a long while now, and i'v finally decided that i don't like it at all. In this particular guitar, the little 59 is hollow sounding, bright and lacks output.

What I'm looking for is something smoother/thicker sounding, with more output. Something that really sings when soloing with a high gain tone.

I checked out some of the Dimarzio mini humbucker/rails style pickups and the Chopper looks like it would work great for me, going by the info on Dimarzio's site. Anyone have any experience with the Dimarzio Chopper in the neck position?

I know its not as hot as the Chopper, but I absolutely LOVE the Cruiser Bridge in the neck of my Musikraft.

Cool! How does the Cruiser sound? I remember reading it's what Andy Timmons uses in the neck position right?

Yup... as anyone on this board can attest... I have a massive man-crush on Timmons.. LOL! :D

Picture this. Wound strings humbucker, plain strings single coil. But a warm, fat single coil. It's hotter than most single coils, but not as hot as a humbucker. It just freaking rules. LOL! :D

Haha! :D Timmons rules!

See the problem is I'm sitting here wondering if maybe the neck pickup tone I'm looking for is more of a thick humbucker tone rather than a single coil tone?

After looking on Dimarzio's site again, I'm starting to wonder if the Air Norton S or Pro Track would be more up my alley!

Argghh the confusion!! :hys:

Yup... he does... FREAKING RULES! LOL! :D
Well the Cruiser is somewhere in between. Actually if you have Resolution handy, the tones on that album are dead-on what it sounds like in person.

But yeah... I'm not a single coil guy. I tried and tried, but they just don't work for me. Except for the Cruiser. Which isn't even a real single coil... LOL! :D If you want to try it, just get the bridge version since it's hotter and thicker I think.

Ahh good point, the bridge versions of all these pickups are usually hotter and a little thicker tonewise  With that said, the Little 59 i have is the bridge version and it's still too bright for me haha :D

I'll give the Resolution disc a listen tomorrow and see what i think, if it's not too single-coily sounding for me then i'll have to check one out!
