I have the CL/LF set in my RG927. Sound great but to me, the CL seems a good deal noisier than other pickups. I touched base with Dimarzio on my wiring and even re-did the job yesterday with shorter leads etc. I'm not saying the guitar is noisy, I'm saying "Bridge Only" mode, there's alot more noise than normal. More noise than when the pickup is coil tapped in the 2nd position of the 5 way.

Anyone else notice this? Seems to be a similar opinion on the interwebz but I wanted to ask here.

It's nothing an ISP couldn't fix but it kind of bugs me.

Dave,

I've heard this from multiple CrunchLab users before, and experienced the same (to a certain level) when I used the pickup myself. From what I recall, it unfortunately comes down to the design of the pickup. The Dimarzio D-sonic is the same.

In my setup (which was Axe FX when I had that pickup), it wasn't too big of an issue, but I could see it being annoying in a more traditional setup.

If it's getting to you, have you considered swapping to the new Dimarzio Illuminators? Most people seem to be happy with the swap, and since the Illuminators are a traditional pole piece design, you shouldn't have the same issue.

Good luck!

Hey Eric,

I'm currently looking at alternatives and saw the Illuminators as excellent options. I don't notice the issue when I'm using that guitar with my Kemper. But I'm almost certain it's because the profiles I was using had gates and/or suppressors in them.

But for sure when I plug it into the Mark IV and compare it to my other guitars, it's noisy. I think I want to try something with less output anyway. I like the Steve's Special and Air Norton combo in my other guitars so something in that vein. The Blaze 7 looks cool too. I may just get my ISP Decimator pedal out of the drawer and use it when I'm playing this guitar.

I cant say I have noticed this, but I cant say I have meticulously sat down and listened for it

Sometimes I do think about swapping for something different. The CL/LF combo does sound good, but I cant say I love it. It is good enough I dont bother with ripping them out of there, but not good enough that I feel like the guitar is finished.
