so, I have a Warlock, and i am not crazy about the stock pickups in it. Covered BCRich pups.

I dont play metal or prog. But this combo seems more versatile and powerful without becoming cookie cutter like a pair of EMG 81-85s would do.

just wondering if any of you tone guru's have used this combo outside of a Music Man.

thanks!

I thought the Liquifire was way too hot for a neck pickup.

Hey TB, what guitar did you try it in? I was scoping out that very pickup for a basswood build, in the position it would normally sit in on a 24 fret guitar. Was yours in a normal 22 fret neck position?

A Fender 72 Tele Deluxe RI, with an aftermarket 22 fret neck. It overpowered the Tone Zone in the bridge. Ended up with a GFS Pro AlNiCo II.
I was very even tonally though, not scooped, not trying to be a bass pickup.

Cool, is that the one with the circular burn marks? And I don't have to mount it on a P-bass instead? :D

Yep, that's the one. Graphics by Whirlpool. I could imagine using the Liquifire as a bridge pup though. I might even still have it. I've got a bunch of pups I need to sell.
Anyways, it's not at all bad sounding, just be mindful that it is a very high output pickup, and you would want to pair it with something even hotter than a Tone Zone.

The pickups sound AMAZING in the petrucci model...I tried it in my PRS CU24, and honestly didn't like them nearly as much....both pickups were a little too 'bloated' for my taste in mahogany. Never tried flipping the orientation though...

Best,

Eric

he said he uses a chambered body. That makes me worried that on a solid body they might be too mid heavy.

I have the crunchlab mounted in my Ibanez RGA121 (mahogany body/maple top) and I think it sounds extremely musical and versatile. Actually, I think I might like it better than my Evolutions.

...also, currently that guitar is tuned down to drop Bb.
