I was thinking about swapping out the A5 magnet in a Tone Zone I have, but as I opened it up there was a lot of wax everywhere. Shouldn't really be an issue but I just opted-out and left it alone.
It's not any issue. Just unscrew the baseplate and swap the magnet. There does tend to be a lot of wax and some Dimarzio's have odd spacers and little rubber rings to create an air gap between the pole pieces and the magnet.
But none of that interferes with swapping the magnet.
I have an oven for powder coating and I hung a pair of Epiphone pups at wax melting temp and captured it in a bowl.
Loosened the base plate. Swapped out the A5's for A2's.
Will be installing one of those in the neck of my tele soon. Depending on which one sounds best with the bridge pup already in it.
