Ok, with all do respect, how many more "dime" amplifiers do we need? His name is showing up on as much stuff as EVH's. Wasn't KRANK doign a line of tube amps with his name on it at the time of his passing and afterwards? If i wanted a solid state sig amp would i not just get an old Randall? Or anything solid state with gain?

ewww

Those amps are not aesthetically pleasing, nor are they aurally pleasing.

It's sad to see Dimebag's name used as a marketing tool.

you're late

krankenstein was never the "dime" amp
it was just a krank rev with extra diode clipping
they didn't revoice the amp for his sound, just added more grind

the Randall Warhead also didn't sound like Dime and he never recorded a Pantera album with that amp

the Dime amp is made by Dean and sounds much closer to his tones than any modern Randall (G2, G3, Titan, Cyclone, Warhead, X2...)

it may seem like another cash maker, but it's actually the only thing Dean did after his death that I fully respect
they hired his tech Grady Champion and made it as close as possible to his actual tone, so it's not just a Randall clone

a 90's RG100 and the 80's RG100ES have no near as much gain as Dime had with all his EQ boosting
I've never tried the Century 200, though, which is supposed to be the main base for the Dime D100 amp
newer Randalls have a lot more gain than the old US made ones, but they sound like distortion pedals (I actually got closer to his tone with the MXR Dime Distortion pedal than with the Randall Titan)

the downside is that it's made in China, but so are all Randall models
the price is quite fair for a big professional signature head

if I still had a Pantera tribute band (I had two), I'd definitely buy one

It doesn't surprise me Dean Guitars is behind that at all. They have sucked out every "dime" they could from his death. I just hope Dimebag's family is seeing some of this money. I lost all respect for Dean when they release something like a million different Dime guitars shortly after his passing.

The amp circuit is based on the original solid state randalls he loved. His personal amps were used.

The dime amp line was thought up by dime, he just wasn't around long enough to see it happen.

His widow rita, has made it her mission to see all of his unfinished projects finished. Sure there is money to be made but trust me she doesn't need it, this is about here honoring her late husband and seeing his projects through. How do I know for sure? She is my friend.

The price point was also his idea, i asked why a Chinese made cheap and the answer was that he wanted an amp with his name on it that every single kid could afford.

I feel that my Randall RH200 nailed Dimebag's tone perfectly, much better than the Warhead. If you want his sound, find one of those, and they're cheap as hell.

Interesting stuff. Thanks for sharing.

we had one at the store I work at. very loud solid state amp. sounded pretty bad for solid state, but thats just me.

exactly

Personally, i don't find it hard to nail that tone as I could get close enough with an old marshall valvestate. Bottom line is that the distortion needs to be tight and that is where solid state shines. Furthermore, the bill lawrence pickups are a huge part of that sound as i found they thinned out the tone somewhat and really make the harmonics pop. That said, i think the price is just right.. with the price of tube amps coming down, there is really no justification for pricing a sig. solid state head out of this world..

Just to add to commentary on the tone... for what it does, I'll say that this one does sound good. Super scooped but if all you want to do is thrash then i can see it being a hit and much better sounding than the krank stuff.

Sure thing

FWIW: Dean Zelinsky ( Yes,,the "Dean" in dean gits) has nothing to do with and is not involved in any of the current "Dean" umm...stuff..

Juggernaut,

sounds pretty good considering you have a somewhat trebly camera (based on your other videos)
I'd enjoy that amp a lot if I still played in thrash bands

I also love the fact that they tried to replicate Darrell's calligraphy on the panel
it's one of the coolest looking amps I've seen, without looking cheesy or cheap
it has that "modern classic" look and definitely something that Dime would be proud

If you sent this my way. I am talking about the company. I was not soloing out Dean Z. if my memory serves me Dean Z is no longer with the company and has started DBZ guitars. Dean left because he did not like the shortcuts the company was taking and felt that quality had taken a backseat. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Molten thanks for the info about Rita.

Nope....Was not directed at anybody at all...Was just sharing some of my vast wealth of useless information...

You guys know what the worst thing about this is?

Lots of Dimebag fans, but Dime's tone only suited DIME'S playing!

Objectively speaking, I can't stand tone like that. Works for Pantera well though.
