DIY DI Box?

Realistically, no, not one that will function as a normal DI box would. Good DI boxes have transformers in them and good ones are not cheap. I know a way of bending the rules a bit so that you can emulate one for relatively cheap if you know how to solder. The premise is that you run your guitar into a buffer (pedal bypassed) in order to load the guitar and convert the impedance.

BOSS SD-1 = $39
1M (or higher) Metal film resistor = ~50¢
2N5457 JFET Gate = ~$1

Essentially you are strengthening the buffer of the pedal to act as a load for your guitar and the output section of the pedal converts the tone to low impedance to drive the input of your interface. It still won't be as good as running straight into a DI box, but it'll be close enough to getting the job done on your budget.

Yeah it's going to be mainly for reamping so I might want to get something of quality. :/

are you wanting to slave one amp into another?

if so, i could post pics of a DIY Line out box?

DI is more for running a guitar into a mixing board or recording.

You could easily build a quality DI box for around $30.
And then build a reamp box for another $30.

Do a search over on the Andy Sneap forums, there a a few threads with build info and a parts list.
