DMT Tyrant pickup? Or just run-off-the-mill JB for me?

So has anybody any experience with these? If you have, can you please compare them? How hot are they compared to each other and other pickups?

Thinking about dropping either of these into an RGA121 with a slim mahogany body, a fat maple top, and a maple neck, so it's a bright snappy guitar. I recently got a Duncan Distortion in another guitar and I'm wanting to try more passives, but I fear the Duncan Distortion's attack and brightness might be waaaay too over-the-top for an already bright attacky guitar.

Obviously looking for an Arch Enemy-ish kinda sound, lol.

And a pic of the guitar because it's pretty, and pics always make threads cooler:

Thanks. :)

No experience with it.... but why not try an Aldrich? fatter and crunchier across the board. Tight lows too. I think the distortion would be as you said, too bright for that guitar if it is already lively.

Motor City Afwayu would probably work. It's on the darker side with a big, full low end.

Thanks for the replies! I haven't looked at the Aldrich. Will research more into it! Same as the Afwayu, thanks.

OR.. JB with an A2 magnet. I installed one today, nice highs, still good and crunchy, just a little less trebly.

I just put a a set of holy divers in a guitar and i think they may be the best pickups i have ever purchased. I may put them in my suhr modern down the road because at the moment i like them more than the shh+

How do the Holy Divers compare to the JB? They are based off the JB, aren't they? And how do they compare to the SHH+? The Suhr pups look interesting and they are more reasonably priced than BKP's, lol.

I kinda like the grindy treble a la Arch Enemy that I hear from the clips of the JB, TBH. I'm getting rid of the EMG's in it because they don't quite have the grind in the highs that I want, and they're too compressed in the lows. The Distortion has nice cut and bite, but it seems a bit too tight and percussive for the more old-school-ish dirty vibe that I wanna get, I think.

:)

The suhr pickups are great for the money but if you are willing to spend a little bit more i have never played any pickups that sound and feel as good as BKP. With that said The Holy divers have more balls and seem louder than the ssh+.At the same time sound brighter and more articulate. To me its just that perfect 80's humbucker sound. I had an aldrich in a charvel a while ago and it had that similar blanket sound compared to the BKP. What i do like about the ssH+ is that it is a little more mellow and is very balanced so it never really wears on your ears at all. The holy diver neck pickup has an incredible bell like quality that i enjoy as well. I also enjoy how tight the BKP alnico pickups are. I have never been a fan of ceramic pickups so that's a huge plus that they are tight sounding.

I'd second the Afwayu's. I have a set in my Ibanez and they warmed it up nicely! One of my favorite pickups.
