Does a 2x12 sound significantly "bigger" than a 1x12?

Thinking of getting a 2x12 cab for my Tweaker. I just want some more "size" to my tone. The 1x12 is a cool sounding cab but would a 2x12 sound significantly bigger? I'm thinking with a 2x12 it's still perfectly giggable, can still get it in the boot of my car etc.

Also the other thing; sometimes I feel like I don't quite have enough low end thump when I gig the Tweaker/1x12. I tried rectifying this a bit by putting 6L6s in there but I just prefer the tone of EL34s. You reckon a bigger cab/more speakers will add some thump and low end thickness?

Thoughts?

Of course, you're pushing twice the air. Do yourself a favor and get ahold of a Bogner oversized 2-12 and you'll be in heaven!!

a bogner 2X12 OS does yes. On the whole yes but some of the new cubes coming out are pretty damn tasty.

EDIT: dammnit Greg you are always one step ahead of me

Depends on the cabs. I love the Bogner OS 2x12, but I don't think it sounded any bigger than my Thiele. I actually can push the amp more with the thieve than the OS. And mic'd not a chance.

Some of the 2X12's are pretty big. You are saying in will fit in your car, but I would measure first ;)

That said, for me, I like the separation I can get with a pair of 1X12's. Not to say I don't have a 2X12 too, but for the ability to have cabs I can move easily, stack if I want to, have in different places on the stage or in the room...I have to say I like the pair of 1X12's a bit more than a 2X12. That's just me though...if you don't want to use a pair of 1X12's, the 2X12 may be a way to go.

I am just not getting as much use out my 2X12 because I would rather use the pair. Plus, speakers do have a significant impact on your low end...have you considered swapping out the 1X12 you have??

I'd be shocked if any 1x12 sounded as big as my Hermida ported 2x12 with Vintage 30's. That thing is incredible and it's very small.

I just got yesterday a Diezel 2x12 V30 FL (close back, really huge) to replace my Tech 21 PE 60 (open back, G12K100), it's just another dimension... and only low volume for now, I still have to test it at "correct" volume :D
