Does KT88 have more mids then 6550?

Curious does the KT88 have better mids then a 6550? And which has more low end?

Also does the KT77 have more low end and crunch then EL34?

I was listening to Europe DVD and Johns tone then using KT88 seems quite... big but lacking mids.

well, in my limited experiance.

Yes KT88s seam to have a little more in the mids, but its rather flat.
less colouring and more empisis(sp?)
While 6550s tend to have mid peaks that seam to give a faking image
more mids, while on a whole the mids that arn't peaked sit a little father
bacl from the KT88 mids

Both tube have more than enough bass, KT88s tend to bloom more and
(not really the right term but i'll use it anyway) sag a little more
While 6550s seam to have a tighter roll off, they seam more immediate


Again this is from limited experiance, from 4 diffrent 6550/kt88 brands,
all in one amplifier.


p.s. if you find a pair of KT88s and a Pair of 6550s that matched closely
together, I like this combo, best of both.
